As you walk on this journey called life, following your Lord Jesus, you will encounter many troubles. In this day of the wickedness and wicked people, you will have many difficulties. there is no doubting that.
Yes, this world and the people in it have been going from bad to worse. They will demean, curse, and slander you just because they can and especially to those who walk in the righteousness of the Lord.
But your Lord has already won, has overcome the evil one, and all those he commands. He has already seen the end from the beginning and has struck the death blow to Satan.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike His heel. Genesis 3:15
Knowing that He is always with you, never leaves you, forsakes you, and has already won is of great encouragement.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
Do not be worried or be frightened of men or what they may do to you. God is in control. Lean into Him, focus on Him, and trust in Him.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? Psalm 118:6
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28
The Lord God has overcome and has already won the war. You are to now rest in His comforting arms. He is still here under command of all things. Nothing has changed.
He calls you now to turn your focus upon the building of His Kingdom. To labor in His fields. To bring His remaining sheep to Him.
You must be prepared on all occasions to speak the truth. To speak the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all, even if most do not listen.
Keep on doing good and speaking the truth with gentleness, respect, love, and self-control. Keep doing good to all those around you. Even if they speak or do evil to you, return good for their wrong. God will judge them and He will punish the wicked in due time.
The Lord says you will be blessed in all circumstances. Whether it be here, now, in the future, or in the age to come. This is what is right and pleasing to the Lord. He has everything in hand.
But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,
but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
For it is better to suffer for doing good if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 1 Peter 3:14-18
