The Rare Woman

A God-fearing woman is an absolute treasure from God. She is a rare jewel, a fine gem that only God could have created. Until God reveals her, she is a hidden treasure set aside until the time the Lord established for her. But when she is set in her place for all to see, she will shine and glimmer like a fine ruby because all will see her for who she really is, with a pure heart of gold.

An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not harm all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:10-12

The very hand of the Lord is upon her to move her to compassion for the less fortunate. She has a special gift to see past the sinful nature or wrong behavior, to love without measure, and to forgive without bounds. To do the dirty work when no one else will. To be bold and straightforward with the truth and give those who do not deserve her favor, kindness, mercy, and love.

She seeks wool and flax and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens. Proverbs 31:13-15

Yet God has created her to empathize, nurture, care, heal, and comfort. But also with great strength, wisdom, and dignity for the benefit of her children, family, husband, and all those who have the honor to meet her.

She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle. Proverbs 31:16-19

She hungers and thirsts after righteousness, holiness, and purity. Though not perfect, she strives in every way to seek the Lord in all their ways. She asks for forgiveness and often repents when she is wrong. She listens patiently to those in need, is quick to hear wise and righteous counsel, and diligently teaches those around her to do the same. All those who know her call her wise and blessed.

She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land. Proverbs 31:20-23

The whole world truly is blessed because of her and the work He has given her to do. God has genuinely blessed us above and beyond all measure by the work of her hands, the wisdom upon her lips, the dignity of her ways, and the pureness of her heart.

She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:24-26

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:27-31
