The Lord’s Plans

Many times and in many ways, this Christian life is like walking down a darkened path that you can not see one step in front of the other. Other times the path is well-lit and clearly the way to go. The question you may have is, “am I going the right way?” “Am I doing the right thing?”

Can your success or lack thereof be used to measure if you are going down the road the Lord wants me to go? Or is it something else that makes His direction clear? Day by day, you are making plans and decisions according to what you believe or know is right or wrong. Perhaps thinking the Lord wants you to do? Sometimes you may wonder if you are on the right road.

But follow Jesus Christ and seek His face daily. Walk in the Spirit of the Lord and He will lead you, though you may not know it. Be of good cheer and hope in the Lord. Yes, have faith and He will help you make the right choices. When you go forward you will be going in the right direction because God has establishes your steps. He will not lead His beloved astray. There is great comfort in knowing He is in full control of your life.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9

It is the Lord that builds your house. It is Him that is guiding your steps. He is the one that is shining a light on your path. Seek Him and His direction in all your ways and He will guide your step even if you can’t see the next one.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

It is through the Lord’s direction, understanding, and guidance that you will prosper, with wisdom, knowledge, and insight. With patience, you will endure everything He sends your way. Until it is His time to show you what He is doing and where you are going.

Many times He doesn’t show you the treacherous path ahead to protect you from fear. He doesn’t reveal the hardships ahead of time to keep you from turning away. His way is the best way. Trust Him, He is the one who builds, He is the one who directs.

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for He gives to His beloved sleep. Psalm 127:1-2

You can go do this and strive to do that, but the Lord Himself will be the driving force and the guiding light. He will be the one that opens or shuts the doors of opportunity or disaster. Whatever you do for Him, be it successful in the eyes of men or not, He will be the one to determine if it is a success. Nothing done for God with a pure heart is ever done in vain or wasted.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him have no lack! The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. Psalm 34:8-10

If you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Lord is with you, that it is His plans, your actions will prosper, flourish, and abound. He will do incredible work all in His time. It almost always takes longer than you expected. But when you get to the place He has chosen, you will look back and understand why it took so long.

Again, seek the Lord in all your plans. He is the one that will make them happen. You are not working in vain. He will direct your steps even if you can’t see one foot in front of the other. He is doing incredible things behind the scenes and you will be rewarded for your faithfulness to His command.

By wisdom, a house is built, and by understanding, it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, Proverbs 24:3-5
