What has happened to the people of this world we live in? Why is it that they go about their business day in and day out and have no regard for the least of these? Most people do not care for the hungry, needy, the broken, and for those who truly want to give their lives to others. They especially don’t care for the ways of God.
You have your family, home, job, comforts, and everything else the Lord has so graciously poured out into your lap. What have you done with it?
Do you look around at those less fortunate? Do you see the pain, suffering, and hunger? Do you sacrifice and open your hands and wallet to help those in need?
How often do people really think about how much they have and how much they really need? Do you not know that the things in this world will soon pass away? They are only temporary and as a mist vanishes before your eyes. The wealth you now have will someday be gone. As they say, here today, gone tomorrow.
How will you spend what the Lord has given you, for yourself or others?
Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist. When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven. Proverbs 23:4-5
Open your eyes and hands to all of those around you that are truly in need. Look to the Lord for what you should do with it. Not to the churches and those who are already well off and prosperous. If you give to others with a pure heart, you in fact are giving to the Lord. He sees what is done out of purity and will reward it.
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Matthew 19:21
Give to those who are hurting, poor, voiceless, in bondage, and broken. Especially give to those who have nothing, but yet they seek to serve the Lord with every fiber in their being, with everything they have.
Those who deserve it most are the true followers of Christ that seek to honor the Lord with all they have. Having nothing of this world, yet giving everything, no matter how large or little it may be. They will lay down their life for others and for the sake of the call that they have received from the Lord.
They are highly honored in the eyes of the Lord. It doesn’t take wealth to do great things, but it takes availability and a willing heart.
Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Luke 6:30
Stop spending your money on the worthless things of this world. Stop spending it on yourself, your selfish needs, or for your own gain. Honestly, you are gaining nothing. Nothing at all, but wasting it.
“Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. Isaiah 55:2
Build up treasures in heaven with what you have now. Give to the Lord by giving to those who truly need it. What you give to the least of these you give to the Lord.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
Let the Lord have your entire life, your entire world, and all that you have. Give it all for the furtherance of the Kingdom of God. What an honor it will be when He greets you into His Glory.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9:10
