Are you doing what is good, right, and honorable before the Lord? Or is the perception that you give others different than what you display day in and day out, either out in the open or in secret? Does who you say you are and your heart’s actions, words, attitudes, and motivations match each other?
“Again, you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is His footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil. Matthew 3:32-37
Many in this world attempt to make themselves look good by presenting themselves before others and comparing themselves to others. They will point out how bad someone else is to distract from their misgivings, mistakes, and sinful behavior. To be honest, it is wickedness and sin that is the problem. What is in your heart is coming out, it is unmistakable, and you can not hide it.
“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:43-45
If you live this way, you are not being truthful to others, yourself, or God. You are not hiding anything at all. People can see your faults even when you have sufficiently covered them. Remember, you can not hide anything from the God who sees everything.
And no creature is hidden from His sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13
We all stumble and fall in many ways. The Lord sees every single sin, mistake, and weakness. You can not hide anything from His sight. So why are you trying? Why fool yourself into thinking you can go around in the darkness and continue to sin and everything will be ok, that you will not come under His judgment? Because the truth is plain to see by the eyes that see everything. You will be held accountable for everything you do, say, and think.
Jesus said, “The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment, people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words, you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:25-37
Let the Lord shine His light upon your heart and your sin. Repent from it and turn from your lifestyle of sinful behavior. It only will bring pain and judgment upon your head, in this world, and especially in the next. Turn to Jesus and follow Him only.
But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Ephesians 5:13-14
Jesus wants to shine His light upon you, forgive, and cleanse you from your sins. And where there is no more sin, there is no more condemnation or punishment. Instead, He wants to show you the truth so that the truth can set you free from the bonds of sin and death.
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15-17
If you have tried to fool others into believing you are good, you are living a lie. Lying to yourself, others, and most of all to God. Search your heart; where there is a lying tongue, there is also selfishness, greed, arrogance, deception, and self-centeredness. Repent and turn away from your sins.
Turn to the Lord that He may show you the error of your ways, that He may shine His light of life upon you today, cleanse you, and forgive you of your sins. Then live a truthful, honest, and holy life before the Lord so that He may reward you for your goodness, kindness, and faith in Him.
Listen to the words Jesus continued to proclaim and do as He commands. He is not trying to harm you by His commandments. But to show you the depths of your sin in reality. Because the wages of sin is death, which leads to eternal punishment in Hell, this is the reason for the warning that you may turn to Jesus for the forgiveness of your sin. I do not want Hell you be your destination. Will you say yes to Jesus or no?
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17
