Stay Alert Stay Vigilant

Always remember who your enemy is. His name is Satan, and his minions are demons. It is not your husband, wife, children, boss, neighbor, or fellow man. It is the accuser of the brethren. So keep alert, keep your mind sober and sharp. Watch out, for he is poised and waiting to pounce. Looking for you to be weakened or distracted only to lie, kill, and destroy.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

The Devil desires to devour you and cause you to fall. Do not underestimate his craftiness and cunning. He knows your flaws, sins, and weakness. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for an opportunity to lay you out flat.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9

Be alert; he is looking for those already wounded. He loves easy targets. But remember who your strength is. It is the Lord God Almighty. He is your healer. He is your tall tower and defense. He is your mighty fortress. Jesus Christ is your foundation and solid rock, so stand firm.

Therefore, lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Hebrews 12:12-13

I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalms 18:1-3

Firmly root yourself in the reading of His Word. Stand in faith and trust in His promises. Put on His armor and give no ground to the Devil. Keep walking in the Spirit of the Lord, working to produce the fruits of the Spirit so that you may not fall victim to Satan’s traps.

Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

In all circumstances, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, Ephesians 6:13-18

Call out to the Lord when you are weak, for it is in your weakness He will make you strong. And pray on all occasions, especially when you don’t want to. That is exactly when you need Him the most. Then, He will strengthen, restore, confirm, and establish you in His power and strength.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time, He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To Him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5:6-11
