I saw an interesting statement the other day saying a person will believe what people have said in this day and age. Yet they will not believe what has been said and done in the past concerning Jesus Christ. I took this idea and tweaked it. Please take a minute, read my statement, and think deeply about it.
“People will believe what someone says at this very moment about what happened 4 billion years ago, but they will not believe what God said about what He did for humanity 2000 years ago through His Son Jesus Christ.” Joel Beach
Would you believe what a professor might tell you about any subject with limited knowledge of the Universe, or would you believe what the Creator of the Universe had to say?
He has said that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Law, the promised Messiah, the perfect sacrifice promised to Israel, the Savior of the World. He came 2000 years ago to bring salvation and forgiveness of sins to all who believe.
Consequently, when Christ (Jesus) came into the world, He said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’” Hebrews 10:5-7
He is the atonement required to cleanse you of your sins by the very blood of Jesus Christ. He is God, was always God, and became man that He may die. Yet He always remained God and gave Himself up for the redemption of your soul. The reconciliation between God and man because of your sins and mine.
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds, we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to His own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:4-6
The blood sacrifice required by God in the past was only a temporary covering of sins, given until the right time when the Son of God Himself, Jesus Christ, would come and change the destiny of mankind forever. When Jesus came, He reopened the door to an authentic relationship with God. God made a way that the glories of Heaven that He always wanted to give to you. He is offering it to you if you are already received it.
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus, you are all sons of God through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:24-27
Jesus was at the beginning of all things and created all things by His hand. He is the Holy Son of God, who was beaten, mocked, and scorned. Wicked men tortured Him more than any other human, to the point of mutilation and great misery that no one recognized Him.
Jesus suffered all of this on your account. All because of His deep love for your soul, for the opportunity that you would believe in Him, repent, and turn from your sins, that you may follow and obey Him.
In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5
At the cross, He willingly was led to slaughter. Shed His innocent blood on your account to take the punishment you deserve for all your crimes, wicked behavior, and sin against God. Because you have continually broken His Laws and ways from the day you were born, lying, stealing, lusting, coveting, cheating, and all other sins that are against what is good and acceptable before the Lord.
If you are honest, you will see that you are guilty of them all, for no one is perfect, we have all stumbled and sinned in many ways, and your heart continues to desire wrong things.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23
As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together, they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.” Romans 3:10-13
Hell, torture, and just punishment await all who do not repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is harsh, yes, but true. All those who do wickedness are piling up wrath for themselves on Judgement day.
But because of your hard and impenitent heart, you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. Romans 2:5
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27
Will you believe Him? Jesus conquered Satan, sin, and death. The grave could not keep Him, for He rose from death to life and is now seated at the right hand of God, with all rule and authority given to Him. Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is offering you eternal life as a free gift, though you did not deserve it and did not earn it.
He loves you so much that He is offering you salvation because of His great love, mercy, and grace toward you. But you must repent of your many sins, turning away from your life of wickedness and rebellion to His Law and ways. You must believe that He is God and died for your salvation.
You must forsake all else, completely put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and follow and obey His commands. Then, you must receive the Holy Spirit so that He may change your heart, mind, and soul. Then you will know the truth and produce good deeds instead of evil. Then you will be given life and belief. God will then accept you into the arms of God, and your eternity will be in Heaven.
For He says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2
“And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He thus fulfilled.
Repent, therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,” Acts 3:17-20
The biggest questions of a lifetime have to be asked. “Will you believe in what God has said?” “Will you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?” “Will you follow and obey Him, forsaking all else, that you may live for Him now and for all eternity?”
