No matter how young or old you are in your walk with the Lord, it is important to always follow the example of Jesus Christ in your life. To do things His way and to please God the Father. Even Jesus, who is God, looked to His Father for instruction and obeyed His commands.
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. John 5:19
What are those things, you may ask? Honor your father and your mother, love one another, worship God and no other, do not lie, do not steal, do not look at others with hatred or unrighteous desires in your heart, be content with what you have, and more.
Do these things sound familiar? They are from the Law, the ten commandments God gave people to follow and obey. Many times it is hard to be good on your own strength, isn’t it? This is because of sin and your sinful nature.
But God commands everyone to turn from their sins and obey Him. To give up on doing it yourself and allow Jesus Christ to do in you what you could never do.
Yep, that’s right, you must repent of your sins to Jesus, turn away from them, and follow the Father’s instructions on how to live. Resist the devil and do what is right.
If you believe and follow Him. If you repent and turn from your sins seeking for God to guide you through this life, giving your life totally to Him. He will give you a new heart, mind, and the ability to do as He has commanded.
Jesus obeyed the Father, will you?
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. Ezekiel 36:26-28
