Wise Or Witless

Better is a man who walks in his integrity, following and obeying the instruction of the Holy Spirit of the Lord, who in turn is misunderstood, ignored, and disdained by others, than a man who seeks to be a people pleaser, following the religious elite, and is received with thunderous applause.

Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways. The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding, but a companion of gluttons shames his father. Proverbs 28:6-7

It is important to walk in wisdom and integrity. To seek insight, discernment, and a perception that only comes from Him. It is the wisdom that comes only from the Lord that will deliver from the deception of this world and His righteousness that delivers from death.

The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. Proverbs 11:3-4

Many in this world put on a great show for all to see. They prance around and masquerade in an exhibition of uprightness and a holy display of their own self-righteousness. But the truth will be self-evident when their word is tested by their actions when the truth is revealed at the conclusion of the performance.

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight. Proverbs 12:22

The sins of some people are conspicuous, going before them to judgment, but the sins of others appear later. So also good works are conspicuous, and even those that are not cannot remain hidden. 1 Timothy 5:24-25

Honesty is the best policy. Even if you find that today you have been a fool. It is better to admit it and accept the consequences required to rid yourself of your own foolishness, then to think yourself wise and continue to walk the path of foolishness.

It is better to appear on the outside to be the smallest and most insignificant in the eyes of men, but in the eyes of the Lord to be a faithful powerhouse on the inside willing to obey any command.

My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you. Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil. Proverbs 4:20-27
