God Is My Fortress

Are you weary, faint-hearted, fatigued, broken, or need strength to get through the day? To go where you need to go and do what the Lord wants you to do. Turn to the Lord for your strength, guidance, and refuge. Remember God has declared that when you are weak that is when He makes you strong. That is when He will give you strength when you seek Him. He will carry you through it all, He will lead, guide, and protect you. This is His great desire for those He loves.

For it is through our weakness that He makes us strong! Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually! 1 Chronicles 16:11

Many times you struggle and fret about many things in life. You may strive and work to gain ground, to climb the mountain of heartache, hardship, and affliction. Seeking to fix your own problems, to attain your goals on your own. You may even be praying continually for the Lord to help you. But the problem is, He is not an accessory, He is not a resourceful tool that fits in your pocket, and He is not your little helper. He is God.

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Who are you to tell God what to do? He is the Lord God Almighty, who rules and reigns over all things, peoples, nations, and dominions. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He speaks and all creation listens. He commands and all the universe obeys. He moves and all things flee from His presence.

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. From His presence, the earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. Revelation 20:11

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Yet He says, “come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” God is your refuge, strong tower, and fortress. You do not run outside of refuge for protection, you do not hold a strong tower in the palm of your hands, and you do not carry a fortress on your back. As if you have power over it. But it is when you hide within the walls that you are safe.

It is when you trust completely within the Lord. You must move inside the walls of His protection, within His will and presence, and not depend on external things. Depend not on money, possessions, status, position, or the words of men but only on the Lord your God.

Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD. He is like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see any good come. He shall dwell in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8

There has to be a time when you come to a clear understanding. A point when you realize that you indeed are weak. It is ok when you realize this truth and understand your position before the Lord. Be honest with yourself and say to Him, “I can’t do it without you Lord!” “Lord, I need You to do the work, fight my battles, and carry me.”

Then the Lord will answer, “Oh Yes my child, now you understand, now I can use you, now I will work powerfully through you. For you can not do my will through your own strength, but I will operate through you, with My power!” This is following the Lord and living by faith in Him. So give up and give everything to Him.

He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40:29 And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
