What is the most important thing in this entire world? The most important action, word, feeling, emotion, or motivation that you can think of. That one thing that can make a difference, that could change the world, that could cause a person to go from living in darkness to light.
What is that one thing that could save a person from going down the wrong road? That could bring two enemy nations together in unity, even save the entire world from destruction.
What is this one thing that could do all of that? It is Love.
Love can change a relationship. Love can change the heart of an enemy. Love can move an entire people to do what is right instead of doing what is wrong.
Jesus said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40
Love can save a nation and the whole world. Yes, it is that powerful. I mean who does not want to be loved. This is the biggest desire in the heart of mankind, to be loved.
But if this is truly the heart desire of everyone, why don’t we see people coming together and loving one another? In truth what we see today is hatred and scorn for each other. Why? The answer is found in the Word of God.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:7-8
What keeps you from loving others? It is your sin that keeps you from loving and because of your sins you are separated from God. If you are separated from God how then can you have love to give to others?
Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or His ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. Isaiah 59:2
New questions are arising in your mind. I am not a sinner, am I? What sins have I committed that separate me from God and how can I be united with God that I can give and receive love?
Let us look into the Word of God, the Bible, and let God tell you the answers to the most important questions you have.
And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
“You shall have no other gods before me.” (Worship only God)
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God.” (Idolatry)
“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” (Blasphemy)
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
“Honor your father and your mother,” (Obey)
“You shall not murder.” (Hatred)
“You shall not commit adultery.” (Lust)
“You shall not steal.”
“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” (Lie)
“You shall not covet”
Exodus 20:1-5, 7-8, 12-17
This is the Law of God, the Ten Commandments. He has declared that all men should obey His commandments. Don’t feel like you are alone in this. Everyone on earth is in the same predicament. We are all sinners in need of forgiveness from God. We all need Jesus to save us.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-5
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son(Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” John 3:16-18
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display His perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:15-17
Do you see now? Jesus is the Son of God. He came to this earth, suffered, and died for all of our sins, your sins, and mine. He was the perfect sacrifice to pay the punishment you deserve because He is perfect and sinless.
Because of your disobedience to His laws, the sins you have committed, you have piled up judgment for yourself. Someone will have to pay for them. Either you will or you can allow Jesus to pay for them. But He took your punishment for you if you are willing to accept it. It is your choice.
He is holding out His hands to you. He is standing in the courtroom of Heaven waiting to pay your fine that you may go free. Pleading with you to turn from your sinful ways.
He loves you so much that He was willing to give up heaven to suffer, die, be buried, and then rise again to save your soul. He defeated sin and death for you. Yes, He loves you that much.
What He asks of you now is to repent of your sins. To turn from your sinful ways and to follow and obey Him in everything that you do. To live your life no longer for the satisfaction of your flesh but to do good, in Jesus’ name. To obey His commands and lead others to salvation through His name, walk in the Spirit of the Lord, and sin no more.
He wants to love you and show love to you. To show love to others through you. To unit friends and enemies alike. He wants to unit kingdoms, nations, and the whole world with His love. Love is only given through God, through Jesus Christ.
This is what is of the utmost importance. To receive love and then to give it away to others. To come to Jesus Christ to receive His everlasting love. Then to give to others the love that will change the world.
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. Isaiah 61:1-3
“Today is the day of Salvation,” says the Lord.
