Sow In Love

Many are the good works of a Christian. Hospitals have been built, schools and churches have been erected, wounds have been healed, and innumerable lives saved. The list of all the good things that have been done for the benefit of the world is endless.

Yes, a believer in Jesus Christ you should stay busy doing good deeds and helping others. Feeding the poor, teaching, preaching, and instructing in the ways of God’s wisdom. Building homes, healing hearts, saving lives from poverty, and saving souls from the grip of Satan and his demons. This is who we become the hands and feet of the Lord, sowing in love.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9-10

This is the very essence of Christianity, to be a servant, and to serve as Jesus served us. To sacrifice what we have to help others. To save them from sin and death. This is what Jesus did. He sacrificed His place of royalty and painless existence in Heaven to come to the earth, to suffer and die for all of our sins. Jesus came as the lowest of servants to teach us how to be the greatest.

The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:11-12

Jesus has given you the best example of how to live. So now you are expected to live by His example and go and try to save people who are lost, poor, suffering, broken, lonely, and weak. Many have no idea that Jesus died for them. That they deserve punishment for their sins or that they need to repent and turn from sin. That they must humble themselves and follow Jesus for salvation. They must be told.

And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34

This is a very important point. Even if you perform all of these good deeds and yet hold sin in your heart such as selfishness, self-righteousness, arrogance, spite, malice, and more your work will not be looked upon favorably by God. In fact, if you do good things without love in your heart, God says it is all worthless.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.  And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a

You must sow in love. Every good gift comes down from the Father, including love. So you must have His love to show others love. There is no greater force that can move a man or woman to change than the love of Jesus. No mightier influence can soften a hard heart than the love of Jesus. There is no higher mandate than what Jesus has declared for us to do. To love God and love one another. Do you have the love of God is the question.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this, the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world so that we might live through Him.

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:7-11

Only the love of Jesus Christ will heal that broken heart, not your deeds. It is His love that will make the proud person humble. It is His love that can cause a selfish heart to change and give unconditionally. It is the motivation of His love that can build that hospital, drill wells for a desperate community, provide shelter, and give help to the homeless and poor.

It is His love that will go out of its way to feed the starving soul. To feed them with the authentic food we need for our souls, the Word of God. To give them the Gospel of Jesus Christ that will save their soul from an eternity of pain and suffering. Only by working with His love will you obtain an eternal reward.

Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15

So whatever you do, whatever you say, whatever your mind and soul desire to accomplish, do everything out of the love of Jesus Christ. Humble yourself as a servant to do it for the Lord and others. Not for your own desires. But to do everything with a pure heart and righteous intention because of what God has done for you. He saved your soul now go and sow in love that they may be saved too.

Then give all the glory and honor to Jesus Christ. Then you will have a great reward in Heaven because you walked in the love of God. You will reap greatly because you sowed in love by lowering yourself by Jesus’ example, small in the eyes of all, but great in the eyes of God.
