Where Does Your Confidence Rest

In times of trouble, do not tremble. In times of turmoil, do not get tense. In times of uncertainty, do not become unhinged. In times of distress, do not be distraught. Put your hope in the Lord, in the Rock of Ages. He is your source of encouragement. Your source of peace is near to you. Look to the Lord, and you will find your comfort. You will find your strength and courage in your time of need.

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. Isaiah 26:4 But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7

Have you ever known someone who can sleep like a baby in the middle of a thunderstorm, climb high mountains seemingly without fear, or stand calmly in front of a fearful foe without flinching? Some are naturally less fearful. But that is not the confidence I am talking about. True fearlessness and boldness only come from complete trust in the Lord God. It comes from the Spirit of the Lord.

When you put your complete faith and trust in the Lord God Almighty, you know He holds you in the palm of His hand, and your days are sealed. No man, beast, or storm will change your fate or sway that fact. You can have peace and security in the middle of raging seas or against any odds. Because your faith and hope are in Him.

Though the mountains be shaken, and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10

Because you trust in the Lord of the Universe, because you trust in Jesus Christ, you can be confident He holds and keeps you secure. He created all things with a Word and holds every atom from exploding. When the Lord lets go, the universe will burn with incredible heat, just as He said He will.

But that time is not upon us yet. There is still time to serve the King of Glory, who holds it all in His hand. He is the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords who goes before you. He is your refuge and strength. The solid rock on which you stand. When you are firmly planted and rooted in Him, you will not be able to be moved.

It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

It is His Spirit that dwells within you because you are now His temple. His angels surround you to protect you from all harm when your faith is in Him.

For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11

The Lord will hold your life secure until your last day comes, on that day that He has preordained. No one or anything will take your life until that day, for you are in the Lord’s hand. What is there to fear? Nothing.

That final day will be a glorious day. Into Heaven and Glory you will go, and you will be greeted and celebrated with great shouts of joy and happiness forevermore. Oh, what a day that will be. To be in the presence of the Lord to serve and be served by Him for all eternity.

Trust in His steadfast love, believe in His unfailing grace, hope in His omnipotent power, and rest in His eternal embrace. This is where you receive the strength, courage, and unflinching boldness to carry on against any storm, against any foe, and against any raging sea that may come against you.

And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:14-18
