Jesus The Bread Of Life

Jesus Christ is the Word of God. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the bread and the drink sent down by the Father that you may live. He is not physical food or drink, as some religions think. But He is spiritual food and drink. When you believe in and follow Him, you eat and drink all He has to give and teach you. It comes from the Spirit of the Lord, and it gives life.

Jesus said, “Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” John 6:56-58

It wasn’t only that He came and suffered for you physically. He suffered spiritually, taking the wrath of God upon Himself. That is what paid the price required for your life. He is the true and spiritual sustenance that every person on this planet needs to feed upon to live in the Spirit. God promises to grant you eternal life through repentance and the sacrifice of Jesus.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. John 6:63

Without Him, you will die and die for all eternity. Without the Bread of Life, Jesus, you will starve to death. I am not speaking about your physical body but your spirit. Your spirit is who you are, how you think, and who makes decisions and keeps you alive.

I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:50-53

You must first believe in Jesus Christ as your savior, then through your daily feeding on the Word of God by reading the Bible that feeds your soul. You will stay connected to God through constant prayer and devotion to Him, seeking His face; this gives life to your soul. In Him and through Him, you live, move, and are guided away from this wicked generation.

For ‘In Him, we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed His offspring.’ Acts 17:28

The Word of God is like food to the soul. Prayer and communion with God are like breathing into the spirit. If you do not eat, you will starve, and if you do not breathe, you will suffocate. Forget or refuse to do these things daily, and you will die. This is the same thing that happens spiritually. You are starving and suffocating your spirit if you do not feed on the Lord. Because of this, you will fall victim to the deception and pleasure of the devil that leads only to death. You will not have the strength to resist or see his traps.

Don’t give up on what the Lord has promised and the call He has given you. Don’t give in to the false ways of this world. Always remember who you serve and who you follow. You need His spiritual sustenance to walk in the Spirit of the Lord, the one and only God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, who rules and reigns over all things. He will sustain you when you seek Him in everything.

Peter said it best, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”

Stay faithful, and never let your trust in the Lord waver. Repent to Jesus for your sins and turn to Him in obedience. Then feed on Him. Even when you want to give up, quit, or throw in the towel, He will carry you through those times. God is with you. He will not let you go. He will not allow you to fail if your faith is in Him and if you feed on His Word.

He is waiting for you to come to Him. To dive deep into His Word every day for your strength and seek after Him with all your heart so that you may be able to stand against the devil’s schemes. Always remember, when you rest in Him, He will sustain you until the end, helping you endure. To accomplish everything He has planned for your life.

When many of His disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” And Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before?

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray Him.) And He said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted Him by the Father.”

After this, many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him. So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” John 6:60-69
