The creature described in the Bible called Leviathan which was most likely the Dragon, was at one time the most fierce and feared animal on the planet! And just as no one in their right mind would ever consider trying to attack it, lay their hands upon it, or even disturb it, but would be utterly fearful of their own lives if they did. So also who is there that can be compared to Almighty God and Creator of the Universe? Who is there that can rise up and be His match?
For man is weak, small, and feeble compared to Him. Yet, man is like the fool who grabs the tail of a ferocious dragon and says to it “heel” and expects it to obey! God gives you commands, laws, and rules to live by for your good, that you may not sin against Him and be punished. But many are as fools and retrabates, and raise their tiny fists to Him and say, “No, I will not! I will do what I want”!
Even many in the church who hear of Him, who worship Him, and praise Him with their lips do not listen and obey. But every week knowing His rules they defy Him and refuse to listen to Him. They go from their place of worship with hearts filled with lust, greed, hatred, gossip, and slander to do as they please. Like a fool listening to instruction and warning to avoid the dragon, yet he goes out directly and grabs it by the tail.
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” Isaiah 40:28
Do you not know that the Lord sees everything you do, even what is in your mind, and upon your heart. You don’t even have control over your next breath, but He has control over all things!
Come to the Lord with a humble and understanding heart, realize your position before Him. You are just a sinner, a criminal who has broken His Laws, and you will be utterly destroyed if you do not turn from your sinful ways.
He is calling you to repentance, to turn away from your life of sin. To follow and obey Jesus who died for you. God will not tolerate the prideful and arrogant. You would not lay hold of the tail of a dragon and command it, like a fool, would you! But humble yourself taking a position with God against yourself, agreeing with Him that you have sinned, you are wrong, and God is right!
1 “Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook or press down his tongue with a cord? 2 Can you put a rope in his nose or pierce his jaw with a hook? 3 Will he make many pleas to you? Will he speak to you soft words? 4 Will he make a covenant with you to take him for your servant forever?
5 Will you play with him as with a bird, or will you put him on a leash for your girls? 6 Will traders bargain over him? Will they divide him up among the merchants? 7 Can you fill his skin with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?
8 Lay your hands on him; remember the battle—you will not do it again! 9 Behold, the hope of a man is false; he is laid low even at the sight of him. 10 No one is so fierce that he dares to stir him up. Who then is he who can stand before me? 11 Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.
