Who Is Your Teacher

Do you desire to know what to do, where to go, and how to do it? Do you want to speak the truth? Do you want your words to give life and not death? Then, you need to get into the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to move through you. Open the book and dig in. Let your fingers do the walking and the Master do the talking.

Be not anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Matthew 10:19-20

It is from constant soaking in the Word of God, loving and learning God’s commandments, and studying God’s precepts that will teach you the right thing to do. Do not depend on your intellect, smarts, understanding, or the words of men. They will lead you toward fleshly learning, legalism, and pride. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. Proverbs 3:5-7

But even more, the Word of God, the Spirit of God, must lead you. He is the one who will give you understanding, the one that can not be proved wrong. It is He who does the real work, who instructs in truth that no man can teach. Without the instruction and guidance of the Spirit of God, you will not know the right way to go. As the Word says, “He is the light to your path.”

Religious men of this day think that they have it all figured out because they believe in what other great men have said. But you could have ten thousand of them lined up, and they may all disagree with each other. Who is right? It is God because He never makes a mistake or error. Commit yourself to the Lord, seek His guidance, desire His truth, and long for His pure instruction. He will send the Helper to you and give you the understanding you seek.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD.

Then the words of your mouth will be true, the motivation of your heart will be pure, the direction of your feet will be straight, and the confidence of your mind will be sure. Boldness comes from the Spirit of the Lord; this will happen because your desire was for the Lord continually, and your heart’s longing was for Him to be your teacher.

Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise; then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word? And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules. I will keep your law continually, forever and ever, and I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts.

I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame, for I find my delight in your commandments, which I love. I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. Psalm 119:41-48
