The Lamb Sacrificed For You

What could a lamb being sacrificed have to do with you? Did you know that thousands of years ago, a lamb was sacrificed to pay for the sins of the people of Israel? God called them His chosen people. The lamb’s blood was used to pay for their sins, as a debt is paid. God is perfect and holy. The only way to become right with Him then was to sacrifice an innocent lamb to pay their debt of sin due to disobedience to His Law.

Because no one on earth is perfect, many lambs had to die for the sins of men. But this was a temporary solution until God sent His Son Jesus Christ to the earth to be the perfect sacrifice for all mankind. He died and spilled His blood for you. He was the perfect Lamb of God, sacrificed to forgive your debt of sin. Now, He has opened the door for salvation not only to the Jews but to anyone who will believe and follow Jesus as their savior.

Everyone on earth does what is wrong. We all know what is right, yet we do what is wrong anyway; this is evident in our hearts because of the conscience God gave each of us. When you do wrong, this is called sin because we have all broken God’s Law, the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20) When you examine yourself in the light of the commandments, you find that you are not good. But you are like all the rest of us. We have all lied, stolen, hated others, lusted after others, coveted possessions we could not obtain, and have not loved the Lord with all our hearts.

Jesus said that hate is like murder, lust is like adultery, and to worship anything other than God is idolatry. (Matthew 5) His wrath will come against all mankind who do not repent and follow Jesus.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on Him. John 3:36

Turn to the Lord and put away your pride and sinful ways. God does not dwell with the unruly, nor will He give favor to the slothful and lazy. He takes no pleasure in the ways of the wicked or putting them to judgment, giving them a sentence to a horrible place called Hell. But He will punish the wicked if they do not ask Him for forgiveness through His Son, Jesus.

Thank the Lord. He is very patient with you. He longs to see your once prideful heart turn to humility. He desires to draw you to Himself and forgive you. Humble yourself and confess your sins to Him. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ with a contrite heart to follow and obey Him.

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. Isaiah 57:15

If you humble yourself and turn from your sinful ways. If you put your wickedness away from you and repent for your sins, which are lying, stealing, cheating, fornicating, hatred, pridefulness, and all other things that the Lord hates. He will look favorably upon you. If you humble yourself before Him and repent, He will forgive you and grant you eternal life.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Though you made Him angry because of your sins, He still seeks you to come to Him for forgiveness. He will pursue you if you pursue Him. He can heal, comfort, and restore your health when you find Him. He can give you what He intended for you for your whole life if you have a lowly spirit and seek after Him and His ways.

He desires to give you the peace and satisfaction you have been searching for in all the wrong places. You know what I am talking about. All the ways of this world, religion, fun, entertainment, things, money, and pleasures never really gave you lasting satisfaction. Did they? Jesus will provide you with “Peace that passes all understanding.”

For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made. Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain, I was angry; I struck him; I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart. I have seen his ways, But I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, creating the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to the far and to the near,” says the Lord, “and I will heal him. Isaiah 57:16-19

Isn’t that amazing? It is true. God loves you so much that He sent Jesus Christ to this earth to sacrifice Himself on the cross for you. He intentionally went to the cross, suffered, and died for your sins and crimes against God. Taking the entire Wrath of God, you deserve. You committed the crime, but Jesus did the time and took your punishment. If you are willing to accept Him, He will redeem you.

Yet, He did nothing wrong, and neither did He ever sin. He lived a perfect life. He was always honoring and obedient to His Father. Jesus is the holy Lamb of God for your sins. He was crushed for you. He poured out His lifeblood to take the entire Wrath of God you deserved. What will you do in response to this message?

He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. By oppression and judgment, He was taken away, and as for His generation, who considered that He was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made His grave with the wicked and with a rich man in His death, although He had done no violence, and there was no deceit in His mouth.

Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush Him; He has put Him to grief; when His soul makes an offering for guilt, He shall see His offspring; He shall prolong His days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. Out of the anguish of His soul, He shall see and be satisfied; by His knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and He shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:7-11

Do you know this? He offers you salvation from death, the forgiveness of your sins, release from Hell, and an eternity in Heaven with Him. He has allowed you to live this long. He has brought you here to read about His Gospel, His good news. That is what the Gospel means: good news. You are alive to hear this. When will you repent and turn to Him?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already because He has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:16-18

It is the best news you could ever hear, even though you have been an enemy to God because of your sin. He wants to make peace between you and Him. Even better, He wants to cleanse you of sin thoroughly, instruct you in the right way to live, and give you the gift of adoption into the family of God. How often do you hear that a sworn enemy wanted to make you His heir? It never happens, except by God. He is love, and His display of that love was Jesus’ sacrifice for you.

Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. 1 John 3:1

Don’t stay in the same suffering and misery because of your sins. Don’t refuse to turn from them and suffer the consequences because you enjoy that sin. This life is only for a moment compared to eternity. It is like jumping off a skyscraper because you love the adrenaline rush. But you didn’t put on a parachute. Why would you do that? For a moment of excitement. It is foolish to enjoy pleasure for a moment to pay the severe consequences for all eternity. Think about it.

In your heart, you know the truth. You know what is right and wrong because God has given you a conscience. Please don’t ignore it. Now you know that punishment awaits those who sin—those who do wrong. But God paid for your punishment. He is offering you a pardon and forgiveness. Through the indescribable suffering in both body and soul, Jesus paid for your redemption. All because of the sacrifice He made for you.

The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent because He has fixed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom He has appointed, and of this, He has given assurance to all by raising Him from the dead. Acts 17:30-31

What will you do? Will you continue to enjoy sin for the moment and suffer His judgment for all eternity? Or will you turn to Jesus Christ today, repent, follow, and obey Him in every way? Please consider your eternal soul today. You do not know if you will wake up tomorrow. On this earth, 150,000 will not see tomorrow. Then it will be too late.

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and yet loses his soul.” Mark 8:36
