Is The Lord First

Consider your ways very carefully and the motivations of your heart. That which pushes and moves you in your everyday pursuits. What are you seeking most in this world? What is it that consumes your thoughts and time mostly? Are they the things of God or is your mind dwelling on the things of this world?

Think carefully, muse upon them, step outside of yourself right now, and take a good long honest look at what is most important in your daily life. You are in need of many things and the concerns of this world are almost unavoidable. But have you put them on the top shelf above the Lord?

“As God is exalted to the right place in our lives, a thousand problems are solved all at once.” – A.W. Tozer

But first and foremost the Lord should be at the front of your mind. He should be on the top shelf. He should be exalted to His rightful place. He should be on the tip of your tongue. His Law, commands, and precept should be on your mind day and night. Like David His Word and the Lord your God should be the very first and most important interest in your life.

Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. Psalm 119:97-101

If He is not in the proper place He ought to be in your life, make that change here and now. Devote yourself to the Lord completely and totally and for all eternity. He is good and His ways are healing and refreshing to the soul.

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:29-30

Seek Him first and His Kingdom and when you look back, no matter who disagrees with you, there will be no regret or sadness for following your Lord and Savior wherever He leads.

1 Timothy 6:10-16

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. 11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.

12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, 14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.
