Every one of us has been made in the image of God. Multitudes have been called by God to come to Him and to lay down their lives to honor and serve Him. But unfortunately because of sin, selfishness, the hardness of heart, greed, and many more things of this world only a few have been chosen to be the children of God. Those who love, follow and obey His commands.
“For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? Matthew 16:25-26
God is now calling out to the multitudes of the world to give up their lives of sin and wickedness. He is holding out His hands to them that they may be saved. But so many are not willing to give up their life of sin, the enjoyment of the things of this world, and the life of pleasure they have at this moment. Listen to the pleading of the Lord.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
He is not only calling to those out in the world, to the highways and byways, but also to those who are inside the church. To those who should know better, to those who should know of Him and about Him, to those who should already be obeying His commands. But the truth is that multitudes in the churches are not following the Lord. They are not obeying His commands, which shows that they do not truly love Him.
For He says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments,” and “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” John 14:15,21
The Lord Jesus gave us a harsh warning and very sad truth of those who give the Lord the work of their hands, the service of their tongue, but their heart, for their hearts are far from Him.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.” Matthew 7:21-23
You see that of those who have been called to salvation multitudes will reject Him. Some outwardly for all the world to see, some inwardly rejecting Him, but to everyone around them, they deceive, even to the point of deceiving themselves.
The sins of some men are quite evident, going before them to judgment; for others, their sins follow after. 1 Timothy 5:24
Beware that the Lord does not blot your name from the Book of Life. Yes, you heard me right it may be possible that your name can be written in the Book of Life and then blotted out by the Lord Himself because of your disobedience and your continual refusal to follow His commands. This may shock some of you in disbelief.
Charge them with crime upon crime; do not let them share in your salvation. May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous. Psalm 69:27-28
But it is the one who conquers, endures, and does what is righteous in the eyes of God. It is the one who does not refuse the One who calls them to follow, obey, and abandon the things of the world for the sake of Christ.
The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will [never] blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ Revelation 3:5-6
Why would the Lord say, “I will never blot his name out of the book of life.” If it wasn’t even possible. All things are possible with the Lord!
For if we go on sinning deliberately [after] receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10:26-29
Repent and turn back to God that your sins may be blotted out and not your name.
Repent, therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, Acts 3:19-20
I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. Romans 12:1-3
