What Is Wrong With The World

When you look out at all that is going on in the world and see the chaos that fills every corner, you may ask yourself, “What is wrong with the world?” Why is there so much heartache, sorrow, struggle, poverty, violence, hatred, wars, and divisions between people, political parties, nations, races, and religions?

All you have to do is turn on the television, watch the news, go on social media, see people interact in public, or walk out your front door to see that there is something seriously wrong in the world. You will see and hear the continual fighting, arguing, and struggling back and forth between any number of people. There is no lack of strife in any given place on the planet.

If you were paying attention and looking back into history, you would see this friction has been ongoing for a very long time. As well as it has been getting worse year after year.

There have been many peacemakers throughout the ages who have tried to bring peace to the world. Some have had temporary success in this pursuit. But it always seems to get stirred up in conflict and tensions between nations and people. It seems to be a neverending cycle of conflict. There never seems to be an end to the fighting and disdain between people, nations, and races.

So what is the problem? Why is there a continual struggle for power, authority, and dominion? Causing all kinds of controversy. The root cause of every single problem is sin.

Sin is the driving force that causes hate, anger, selfishness, greed, discord, disagreements, arguments, fights, and wars. It is what causes complaining, slander, gossip, backbiting, rebellion, cheating, extortion, murder, lust, and so much more. We live in a world of continuous strife because everyone is a sinner. Everyone has broken God’s Law, the Ten Commandments.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23

God has commanded that you shall not lie, steal, covet, lust, hate, disobey His Laws, or worship any other God. Every action and reaction in the heart and mind of mankind is filtered through the lens of sin. It is our most deadly fault, our sinful nature, to gravitate toward selfishness. It was written in the Bible about the people of this day and age and about the increase of sin and strife because of it.

But understand this, that in the last days, there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Are you starting to see that sin is a real problem? God has commanded all mankind to stop acting in these wicked and wrong ways. He has given each one of us a conscience to know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil. We are all without an excuse. He is calling you today to turn away from your sinful ways.

God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now He commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to Him. Acts 17:30

God is perfect, righteous, and just. He can not let the breaking of His Laws, the Ten Commandments, go unpunished. Just as a judge of the court has to bring proper judgment and sentence to a criminal, their wages. God will pay you back the wages you have earned because of your sin. You will have to pay for your sins for all eternity in Hell, God’s prison for sinners.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Wait, what? What is this free gift God has, and who is this Jesus? Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was sent to the earth to die for your sins. He lived a perfect life, never sinned, and came here to sacrifice His life for yours and mine. He is the Lamb of God who went willingly to the cross to be killed and take the wrath of God that you deserve. He then rose from the dead three days later and defeated both sin and death. Because of this, He can offer you the forgiveness of your sins.

In short, you broke God’s Law, and Jesus paid your fine. Because of His selfless sacrifice, He can legally dismiss your case before God. God will look at the righteousness of Jesus that He put on you and give you eternal life in Heaven because of it. All this is yours if you believe in Him, repent of your sins, and follow Him as your savior.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already because He has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” John 3:16-21

But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He thus fulfilled. Repent, therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, Acts 3:18-20

We implore you on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God. For our sake, He made Him to be sin who knew no sin so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21

So now what will you do? Now that you know what is wrong with the world and what causes so much strife and discord upon the earth. You know that you are a sinner and have broken God’s Law. You will be paid in return for your sin with death and punishment in Hell as your wages. If you now know this, what are you going to do?

You have been given another chance. Maybe this is the first time you have heard the good news of Jesus Christ or the one-hundredth time. For whatever reason, God knows, and He has brought you to a fork in the road of your life.

He wants you to walk on the path that leads to life. Turn from the road of destruction, the road of sin, the ways of the world. Humble yourself, repent, and be born again into the Spirit of the Lord and become one of His children in the family of God.

Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide, and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:13-14

It is not too late for you. No matter how far away from Him you have wandered. Jesus is waiting for you to come; humble yourself before Him and repent. Believe in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will be saved from the judgment to come. His love, mercy, and grace are great, and He desires nothing more than to shower them upon you.

Do not turn away from His call. Do not think that the things of this world will save you or last. They will not profit you into eternity. Only by the righteousness of Jesus will you be saved, and only by following Him will you be rewarded for all eternity.

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:34:38
