We Need God’s Wisdom

Wisdom is what you need in this day and age, to walk in the way you should go. To follow the path that leads to life. But not just any wisdom will do. Do not follow the wisdom of this world or even your own. Because the world’s wisdom is folly and your own wisdom is actually flawed.

There are many people who believe that they are very wise and they are willing to share their words of wisdom with anyone who will listen. Just think about yourself. How easy it is to believe that you are right and everyone else is wrong. Just to find out later you were wrong.

I know it is a hard pill to swallow, but God says that your wisdom is not good. You can not trust what comes from your own heart or from those who claim worldly wisdom. You need the wisdom that comes from God. Anything else will lead you off of the path of righteousness. He is the only one who can give you true wisdom.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the heart. Proverbs 21:2

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” So let no one boast in men. 1 Corinthians 3:18-21

There is a reason that wickedness has increased upon the earth. It is because knowledge has increased. Just think about it. At the touch of a button, you could search and find the answer to almost any question on the internet. Yet, not everything you find there is the truth. But this kind of knowledge causes a man to become more dependent on what He knows instead of what God says. It causes his mind to be puffed up in pride and his heart to be hardened towards the things of God.

You could have all the knowledge the world has to offer, but if you lack God’s wisdom, that knowledge will be worthless. God knows your heart and knows that it is exceedingly wicked and selfish. As He says, your wisdom is actually craftiness, and it will turn you away from Him into disobedience. It even goes completely against your own conscience He has given you. What the Law of God instructs, you should do, good instead of evil, right instead of wrong, and wisdom instead of foolishness.

“I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Like the partridge that gathers a brood that she did not hatch, so is he who gets riches but not by justice; in the midst of his days, they will leave him, and at his end, he will be a fool. Jeremiah 17:10-11

God calls out to you to humble yourself and look to Him for wisdom and understanding. Not to trust your own wisdom. Neither should you ever trust the wisdom of this world. God calls you to look at your own ways and judge the ideas and motivations of your own heart. To judge them with sober and godly judgment. Through the lens of God’s wisdom, you can determine what is right and wrong. Ask Him for His insight and wisdom so that you can understand and use knowledge wisely.

In this kind of examination, if what you are thinking is against His Law and His ways, repent and seek God’s advice. As well, Satan has sent many into this world masquerading as men and women that seem to have much wisdom. But if they do not line up with what God says, they are false and must be avoided.

Some appear to be good on the outside but they are rotten on the inside. An apple with a rotten core must be tested. Many times you will not determine its condition until it is biting into it. But when you discover its true flavor, if you are wise you will spit it out. Just like the apple, these people must be tested in light of God’s Word, which is always good. But if you lack wisdom, which most of us do, ask God and He promises to give it to you.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5

The carnal man does not understand the wisdom of God. They mix and match good and evil together, not realizing that they don’t mix. Part ignorance and part deception, some from themselves and the other from the religious leaders they follow that are false. Men and women Satan has sent into the churches to corrupt the people. But those who are close to the LORD and possess His wisdom will recognize them and see through their folly. Beware and separate yourself from such people. Bad company corrupts good character.

Seek the wisdom that comes from above, the kind that only comes from God. It will bring to you understanding and give you the ability to know what to do with the increase of knowledge in this world. It will keep your foot from slipping and through godly wisdom He will direct your path straight ahead so you may see clearly. You will avoid the pitfalls left by the devil intended to destroy you.

Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates, she speaks: “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools’ hate knowledge? If you turn at My reproof, behold, I will pour out My spirit to you; I will make My words known to you.

Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded, because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind when distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me.

Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD, would have none of My counsel and despised all My reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but whoever listens to Me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.” Proverbs 1:20-33
