There is no sin that is not common to man, all of us will fall in many ways. But for the true follower of God, for those who have His Holy Spirit, He will make a way for you to escape the temptation.
The Holy Spirit the resides within you will not allow the temptation to go further than your ability to resist. But you must resist.
But if you do fall into sin the Lord is right there prodding your spirit, burning the desire to turn back to Him, to turn and repent quickly. He will not let you stay in that state.
But He will make you miserable until you cry to Him to pull you out of the slimy pit of sin and clean your feet once again.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalm 40:2
What a great and wonderful restoration He does for you. He longs to purify His children and bring you back into His good graces every time. He never fails. Ever working on you to make you more into His perfect image.
Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.” John 13:10
Keep your face ever toward the Lord, keep praying, keep seeking righteousness, and keep actively resisting the devil. Soak in everything that is of the Lord, everything good, pure, and honorable. Take back what the evil one has stolen and hold it as evidence of the marvelous grace of God who saves.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8
Turn the tables on the devil. Do what is right no matter what the consequences might be.
I know that it is hard many times. But the longer you keep your face toward the Lord and see His beauty the more the things the devil offers become putrid in your sight. They will no longer be appetizing but revolting. His Spirit does wonders for the appetite.
Honor the Lord in everything. Learn from those who have gone before you. Remember that God has given you many examples of those who fell and were destroyed. But you are more than a conqueror, you will not fall. Because the Spirit of the Lord Himself is your constant companion and defender.
Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day.
We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer.
Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:6-13
