Have you ever looked closely at a snowflake? How is it that each one is so unique and complex? You would think a snowflake would be so very simple. But really, it is a tiny little masterpiece of intricate ice crystals pointing in beautiful symmetrical order and arrayed with marvelous detail in structure and design.
Those who have studied them say that they are formed around a single particle of dust as it falls through the different levels of the atmosphere. As it falls it grows and stretches out itself in an incredible display of beauty. There are 8 basic classifications of their designs and 80 individual variants, and it all depends on the temperature and humidity as they form. But even then, there is never one snowflake the same as another. Aren’t they incredible and beautiful? How could it be possible for them to form in such amazing complexity? Just like you are a unique one of a kind creation.
Over the years of history, the number of snowflakes that have fallen would be mind-blowing. How irrational it is to think that something so complex, variable, and yet common could be caused by chance. Think of it, not just snowflakes, but you as well. The complexity of the human body and everything in the entire universe has such order and beauty. It is impossible for anything to create itself.
Just as each snowflake is unique, so are you. There is no one else in all creation made like you. You are a creation of beauty and complexity. This is evidence that there has to be a God with infinite power and even more infinite creative genius. To conceive of such awesome things as we see in our vast universe. He designed and crafted each one to perfection, just like He made you just the way He wanted.
But do you believe there is a God? Look around at creation, living things, and the vastness of the Universe. What a masterpiece. Just look at the sunrise and sunset. It is a never-ending masterpiece. A blazing and colorful painting streaming across the sky every morning and evening continually all around the world. All by the very hand and artistry of God.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Psalm 19:1-3
There are no words that can thoroughly describe the majestic scene of a beautiful sunrise. How powerful and wise He must be. How righteous and good He would have to be that He gives us such beauty to enjoy. No evil thing would ever conserve such a thing and neither would it create if it wanted to. Evil only desires to destroy. As an explosion only creates chaos and destruction, never does it create order.
Yes, He is good, as in morally perfect. So good that He must display His righteousness, justice, and judgment to those who do evil. Since He is righteous He must judge evil wherever it is found.
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
The question I pose to you is, “are you a good person?” Good enough to be granted heaven as a reward when you die, when you leave this world? Did you know that right and wrong, good and evil, are written upon your heart? God is the one who put it there. It is called the conscience. This is why you get offended when someone lies to you or does some kind of evil to you. You know what is right and wrong.
Can you be honest with yourself? Look closely at your ways and test yourself to see if you are truly good in the sight of God. But as you read, remember that there is hope, no matter what conclusion you come to.
Have you ever lied? Saying something that is not true, in any form is lying. It is written, “You Shall Not Lie!”
Have you ever stolen anything? If you have taken anything that was not yours to take, that is stealing. It doesn’t matter if it was of great value or very small. It is written, “You Shall Not Steal!”
Have you ever disobeyed your parents? No matter what the reason God commands you to honor your father and mother. This is the only Law with a promise that our lives will be better if we obey and honor our parents. God has said, “Honor our Father and Mother, that it may go well with you!”
Have you always loved God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength? This is the first commandment and God says that no one has obeyed this one.
“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 “For there is no one righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10
These are only 4 of the 10 Commandments, in God’s Law. If you are honest with yourself, you will admit that you have broken God’s Law. They can be found in Exodus 20 in the Bible. The others are, you shall not worship idols, you shall not use God’s name as a curse word, keep the Sabbath holy, you shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, or covet other’s possesions.
If are honest and examine all of them you would find that you have broken most of them in some way, whether in action, thought or the motivation of your heart. Yes, Jesus even says that your thought life can be sinful and cause you to break God’s Law.
“You have heard it said of old you shall not murder, but I say to you if you hate your brother you have committed murder in your heart already”. Jesus also said, “You have heard it of old, you shall not commit adultery, but I say to you, anyone who looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery in their heart already.” Matthew 5:21-30
If you have hated someone or lusted after someone in your heart, that would make you a murderer and or an adulterer. We can plainly see that none of us are good. Do you realize that you are a criminal in God’s eyes? You have broken His Law the Ten Commandments.
But as I said there is hope, there is good news. God is good, forgiving, merciful, and gracious. But He is also just, righteous, and holy. He must judge and punish sin. This leaves a dilemma for you. One day you will die and when you stand before Him on judgment day, you will be found guilty. God will sentence all sinners to Hell which is His prison for all those who have broken His Law. They will go there for all eternity.
“But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when His righteous judgment will be revealed.” Romans 2:5
Don’t turn away. Don’t stop reading because He did a marvelous thing for you to escape Hell. I pray that you are tormented in your spirit and fearful right now. Because this is a good fear and a good thing to be scared of. I don’t want you to go to such a horrible place as Hell and neither does God.
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27
Now let’s take about the good news. God sent His only son Jesus Christ to the earth 2000 years ago to suffer, die, and take the entire Wrath of God upon himself to pay for your sins and mine. This means that God can legally dismiss your case. There is a chance for your salvation, your redemption, and the forgiveness of your sins.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Jesus did not stay dead, but He rose from the dead and defeated both sin and death. He offers you the greatest gift of all time, forgiveness, mercy, grace, and love. Today, there are some things you must do to receive this gift. Confess your sins to God and repent, which means turning away from your life of sin. Put your faith and trust fully in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you do that from your heart you will follow and obey His commands. He will save you and give you a new heart and mind to follow Him.
Then God promises to forgive you of all your sins and give you eternal life in Heaven as a free gift. He is waiting for you to turn and repent today. He desires to pour out on you life, peace, and rest from the heavyweight of sin and the fear of death.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
There is a God that created the Universe. Creation cries out and proclaims that He does exist. Even the tiny snowflake proclaims His majesty. He says that if you seek Him with all your heart you will find Him and He will save you from an eternity of suffering.
Your sins will be paid for, one way or the other. Either you repent and allow Jesus to free you or you will have to pay for them for all eternity in Hell. It is your choice. Every single day you have the choice to choose good or evil. To listen and obey God or not. If you choose Jesus and His ways, your life and eternity will never be the same.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, Jeremiah 29:12-14
Please consider your eternal soul. It is more important than all the riches in the world. The only thing you will take from this world into eternity is your soul and anything you do for God. You can build up treasures in Heaven by following and obeying the Lord.
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? Mark 8:36
Make this decision today before you sleep you may not wake up tomorrow. As a snowflake is here for a season and then melts away, so will you. Choose life and righteousness before God. He sees you and loves you. He wants nothing more than for you to come to Him, repent, and follow Him.
