The Lord Knows The Heart

The Lord Jesus Christ is all-powerful. He lives and reigns. He will one day come in blazing glory to take His righteous and chosen people. He will come to judge the earth’s wicked, idolatrous, and rebellious people. No one can hide even one action, word, thought, or intention of the heart from the Lord. All will have to account for every deed done, even in secret, in the depths of their heart. Believe it or not, this is true.

For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:11-12

God sees everything in all creation from start to finish. Even the ill thoughts, religious pride, arrogant demeanor, or selfish ambition of a man who thinks he is righteous and blameless in his sight. Much greater judgment waits for those who rebelled against His Word, knowing that He has commanded them to follow and obey Him for those who knew His Word and yet disobeyed.

And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to His will will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him, much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.  Luke 12:47-48

Let the Law of the Lord humble you; let it tear down the pride of your own self-centered and self-righteous opinion of yourself, and look at yourself in righteous judgment. You shall not lie, steal, lust, covet, hate, dishonor your parents, and worship the Lord God only. Whatever the Law of the Lord says, you must obey.

The purpose of God’s Law is to bring conviction. Turn your laughter into sadness and your glee into mourning over your sin. Take God’s side against yourself. Repent for the day of the Lord draws near. It is not just a saying; judgment day is going to happen. Jesus is coming, and then it will be too late.

The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them, there is great reward. Psalm 19:7-11

It is very difficult to see your errors on your own. If you look at yourself without the Lord’s help, the Holy Spirit’s conviction, and the instruction of the Law. You will think and believe you are just fine, with no problem. Most people assume they are even doing very well doing it their way.

Listen, no one is like Mary Poppins, “perfect in every way.” she is a fictional character, and so is the person who is perfect in all their ways. Only Jesus Christ lived a perfect life without a single sin. Therefore, He could be the perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins because Jesus never sinned.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the heart. Proverbs 21:2 Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then, I shall be blameless and innocent of great transgression. Psalm 19:12-13

The Lord will forgive your sins if you are humble and of a lowly spirit and sincerely turn from your wicked ways. If you seek the Lord in all your ways, He will forgive. He gives repentance that you may turn away from the deception of your own heart and turn to the Lord for salvation and the saving of your soul from Hell.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Do not deceive yourself into thinking that religious practices, works, and experiences will gain you salvation. Do not think that attending church services, the proclamation of your lips, or performing good works will atone for your soul.

There must be repentance with true sorrow. There must be a turning from your old ways to follow the Law of the Lord. There must be a new birth into the Spirit of the Lord. Finally, you must have good fruit produced from your life, proof of genuine conversion to Christ Jesus.

If you proclaim that you love the Lord but continue to keep wickedness a part of your life, you are a liar. The Lord knows the hearts and minds of all mankind. You can not hide the truth from Him. He knows those who are wicked that they continually go astray.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained from the world. James 1:22-27

Being baptized by water or just knowing the truth is not enough. Simply knowing the name of Jesus or attending a church every week will not save you from the punishment of Hell. So likewise, believing in God but not obeying will not gain salvation.

You must repent of your sins. You must be baptized by the Holy Spirit, converted, reborn, and changed, which will cause you to walk in the truth, and the truth will set you free. Seek the Lord God with all your heart today and give up your life and sin to Him. Then, follow and obey His every word. He promises to receive you, forgive you, and grant you eternal life with Him for all eternity.

O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know, when I sit down, and when I rise up, you discern my thoughts from afar. Psalm 139:1-2
