At times of difficulty, struggle, pressure, and pain you may wonder where is the love I so desperately need? Why does it not last? Why do I end up feeling all alone and unloved? Despair, loneliness, and lovelessness can seem to be your daily bread in the best of times and in the worst of times.
But the Lord God has not forgotten you. I am here to tell you that His love is what you have been looking for your whole life. He is the one you need. You may have been searching for love in all the wrong places. God is always present. He is always there in times of need, for those who call upon His name. He is always watching and waiting for His beloved children to turn to Him, so that He may show them love.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Psalm 46:1-3
His love for you is far greater, deeper, and wider than you can imagine. Just think of all the times you have fallen and sinned, broken His laws, and did not walk in His ways. Yet, He was patient, loving, gracious, and merciful to you. Waiting all day long for you to turn back to Him.
I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me. I said, “Here I am, here I am,” to a nation that was not called by my name. I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices; a people who provoke me to my face continually, Isaiah 65:1-3
You may have been obedient to the tee, but still don’t feel it. He is there and using every situation for your good. Yes, He is still with you. He has not left. Wait upon Him and He will lift you up. He loves like a good father and will pick up His dearly loved children.
He operates in such a way that He uses the good, bad, painful, and horrible for your good. He even allows the devil to seemingly have a reign of terror to turn things around. He uses it to strengthen you and teach you valuable lessons. Job is a great example. He was a righteous and holy man of God. God allowed great suffering, He even suggested the testing of Job to the devil. He was tested, tried, and persecuted severely to prove that God is right and others false.
It actually was loving to allow Job to go through those things. The trials were profitable to his character and his faith. It was good for Job in the end and he praised the God of heaven for all He did. Like good fruit and lush foliage are produced after the storm has pounded the tree in a torrent of rain and wind, so did Job produce righteousness and prove his integrity through the trials. In the end, it brings new life and vibrancy to the one able to endure.
God uses what seemed to be bad and horrible and turns it into something even more beautiful. It is all because of His love. He is not willing to let mankind stay in the wretched state of sin. But rebukes, tests, and refines the dross from His children. Making them pure gold.
And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people;’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’ Zechariah 13:9
The strongest and purest heartfelt desires of all men, women, and children in this world can be boiled down to one basic need. We all desire to be loved. Love is the most needed and required human emotion. It is the most powerful offense to keep moving forward. It is the most robust defense that will defend against any attack or assault that attempts to dismantle what you hold most dear.
The presence of true love and feeling truly loved will hold a person up in the worst of storms. But on the contrary, the lack of love will cause a person to crumble in self-loathing and despair in the smallest of confrontations.
Oh, that I might have my request, and that God would fulfill my hope, that it would please God to crush me, that He would let loose His hand and cut me off! This would be my comfort; I would even exult in pain unsparing, for I have not denied the words of the Holy One. Job 6:8-10
The world and the vast majority of those who dwell in it are constantly seeking to be loved. Going from one person to another. From one thing to another seeking true love, yet not finding it. Around every corner, there seems to be someone or something that will fill the deepest need for true and pure love. A love that will fill that empty void that they so desperately long to have filled. But unless we seek God for love we will not be filled.
What you really need, the source of true love has always been right there in front of you. It is the one thing that you may have neglected. It is the one person you have not run to. It is the only one in all creation that will fill your heart with the love you so desperately need. It is Jesus Christ!
This is why Jesus declared, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
The LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. Jeremiah 31:3
For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west, I will gather you. Isaiah 43:3-5
Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ who loves you so very much. Run to Him and allow Him to wipe your sins and your tears clean. His love for you is so great. He sacrificed His own life for you. He took the entire Wrath of God for you. The punishment you deserved.
Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” John 15:12-14
Jesus Christ laid down His life for you. He displayed the greatest love, all on your account. Flee the aimless love of this world and the things that bring no eternal satisfaction. Fall into His loving arms, repent and turn from your sins.
He is waiting for you. Give Him every part of your existence. He will heal you, wipe your tears, restore you, and He will love you in the way you have only dreamed of. It is this love you have been seeking your whole life. It is His love that will satisfy and give you love, joy, and peace that surpass all understanding.
I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! You have multiplied, O LORD my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. Psalm 40:1-5
