Those who are faithful followers of Jesus Christ have many things that no one else on earth has. They have hope, peace, love, and joy even in our sufferings. Even more than that we have the Holy Spirit of God given to dwell within us. Oh, how He speaks comfort, understanding, wisdom, and instruction to our hearts even in the midst of attacks and storms.
Now, this doesn’t mean you will never become sad, suffer pain, struggle, or are without tears. We certainly experience that and many times to a greater degree. But realize God’s hand is upon you every day, and in every situation in your life. He is pressing you down, teaching you good lessons, instructing you, and causing you to grow closer to Him. His purpose for it all is to cause you to become rooted ever deeper in Him.
For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory, He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—
that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19
He increases your endurance through trials and strengthens your trust in Him through the pain. He is producing an increase in His Spirit within you after every trial. Everything is for a purpose and for His plan to come. This is to increase your faith, trust, belief, and reliance on God. Increasing your understanding, wisdom, and knowledge in Him and of Him.
Just like a tree planted by a stream. It takes much time to drive its roots deep and to grow its stance broad and strong. God is driving your roots deep within Himself so that you may stand strong against anything that might come against you and give you a broader vision for the building of His kingdom.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers, but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:1-3
So when the buffeting winds of trials, tests, struggles, persecutions, and pain beat you down. Remember God is using each one for your good, to make you powerful in the name of Jesus Christ and His Spirit. To refine you to be the mighty warrior for Christ and to help you set your vision on Heavenly works. There are those out in the world, lost and abandoned, that is depending upon you to lift them up. He has given you a job to be done, to bring them to the Savior.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him, we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoiced in hope of the glory of God.
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-5
