Though the earth and those who dwell in it were utterly lost in the darkness and destined for destruction because of sin. He has come to shine His everlasting light and love upon all the earth.
He has come to give sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, and life to the dead. To give everlasting life to all who believe, repent, and follow Him.
He is so much more than just any baby born in a manager. But a king! He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Word of God.
He is our God who took on the lowly form of a helpless child. He came to be a servant to all and a perfect sacrifice to pay the punishment we deserve. Died, rose again, and ascended on high and is now seated at the right hand of God.
Then once again He will come, but not as a servant or a lamb for the slaughter. But as a mighty King and Warrior to rule and reign over all the earth.
May the great joy, love, and peace of the Lord fill your hearts on this Christmas day we celebrate our Lord’s birth. And then look forward to the great and awesome day of His coming, when we will all rejoice in glory, in the Lord’s presence, never more to dwell on the pain and woes of this world.
2 The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone.
3 You have multiplied the nation;
you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
as with joy at the harvest,
as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
4 For the yoke of his burden,
and the staff for his shoulder,
the rod of his oppressor,
you have broken as on the day of Midian.
5 For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult
and every garment rolled in blood
will be burned as fuel for the fire.
6 For to us, a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.
