We do not stand on our own words or ideas but on the Word of God. We stand on the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives. Many say many things, but is it from the wisdom of God that they speak? Do they really stand on God’s truth or the truth crafted by men?
The follower of Jesus does not rely on the ways or traditions of men. Things taught by the wisdom that comes from men. The concepts men have molded from their own spirit or interpretation of the Word of God are often times incorrect. But what comes from the Spirit of God is always right. He is the instructor and revealer of mysteries. He gives wisdom to those who have none and guidance to those who seek His Spirit.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26
It is through the Word given by the Spirit of God that brings life, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and revelation. The words we write down have no power unless they are of the Spirit and by the Spirit of God.
Take a close look at what you are been taught in the church. Examine it carefully to see if it matches up to what God is teaching in His Word, by the Spirit. Look at it in the light of who God is and who He has always been. Because God never changes His ways. A wise man does not just take the word of another just because he is a popular teacher, preacher, or priest of a religious organization.
Consult with the Spirit of the Lord. Searching the scriptures to see if what is being taught is true. Many times there are things that you believe to be a fact that is in fact fiction. Be like the Bereans and be wise and noble. Don’t just believe it because a church leader says it. Seek the Lord to show you what is true.
Now, these Jews(Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the Word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Acts 17:11
Mere knowledge of the scriptures without the Spirit is dangerous. Without the insight and wisdom of God, it causes the formation of practices and traditions that are not right. That God never intended for us to follow.
Many teachers in this age are in fact teaching the doctrines of demons and may not even know it. Which have been designed by the devil to draw people away from God instead of toward Him. They are principles taught by those who neither understood nor know what they are even talking about. You do not want to be listening to such things. You must ask the Lord for discernment and run from them.
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 1 Timothy 4:1-2
The understanding and interpretation that is true come from God. The Spirit of the Lord is your instructor. He gives true wisdom. A wise man or woman will be careful to check it with the Lord before moving forward with whatever they receive.
Those taught by God will know God. Those who know God will obey the commands given by God. Those who obey His commandments will speak the truth of God no matter who thinks otherwise. They will not be swayed when men of seemingly high rank come against them. Because they are nothing compared to the God they serve. Those who speak the truth of God will be spoken of with honor by Jesus Himself to the Father and that is all that matters.
Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:1-6
