As a Christians, God has given you many great gifts and promises. Through the Holy Spirit, He has given the power over sin in your mortal body, against your enemy, and in every aspect of your life.
But you must strengthen your new nature and work on mastering your mind, heart, soul, and ways to mirror Christ.
Put on the fruits of the spirit; love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, and long-suffering. Put them on like you would clothing. Bind them around yourself like a belt. Pull them on like a glove. Wrap them around your being, making them like undergarments, wearing them as padding under the Armor of God.
They are meant to work together to protect and soften the blows you receive, as you march forward in the battle against the wickedness of this world. They will help you take the brunt of the blows without flinching, advancing forward defeating the enemy and moving ever closer toward the promises of God.
His purposes, promises, and plans will not be thwarted and they will not fail. He will protect, guard, and defend you no matter what the enemy throws your way.
2 Peter 1:3-8
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
