Have you ever looked at the beauty of the world, the complexities of the Universe, and the intricacies of the human body? They are so incredibly complex. How is it that everything has such purpose and order? The Universe could not have come into existence on its own.
Take the human eye, for example; it is said to have over ninety million cells. The cells collect light and communicate a clear picture of information to the brain. In this way, you can see the beauty of a sunset over an ocean. The majestic scenery of a mountain range, the plentiful greenery of a hidden valley, or the majestic starlight of the night sky. How can it be that the human eye can function so efficiently?
Consider the difference between a camera lens and how it must be focused on an object while the rest of the scene is out of focus. Yet the eye can instantly focus on everything at once, and they all are in focus. It took advanced technology to create a complex camera lens. Yet, they say the eye evolved from nothing—clearly, someone of great knowledge designed the human eye.
Have you ever wondered if there is more to this life? Is there someone who put everything into order? Is there more than what meets the eye? Is there a God who has made everything and rules over them all? Is there a Heaven where joy and happiness live and goodness, righteousness, and justice reign? A place where all are forgiven by God and live in perfect harmony. If there is a place for the good, doesn’t that mean there is a place for the wicked and cruel? Those who disobeyed the Words of this God, who have broken His Law.
Let’s examine a few more things that could have never existed without a creator. Someone had to design the tall skyscrapers that shape a city skyline. What about your cell phone that you hold in your hand? And what about every computer we all use daily? Their existence proves they were designed by a designer or built by a builder. Someone with great intelligence and knowledge crafted the pieces together perfectly so that they worked and performed a function precisely as designed.
Since this is true of man-made technology, isn’t it logical that the whole Universe had to have a designer and builder? When examined in this light, every aspect of the Universe shouts out that there must be a Creator who formed everything into perfect order. Someone with great intelligence, knowledge, and wisdom created this incredibly complex Universe we live in. Who conceived the idea of all things, made them, and put them into place. Do you see that creation is much more elaborate and complex than anything man has ever conceived or created?
Now, I want to ask a much more important question. Do you think you are a “Good Person?” Do you think you are good enough to go to Heaven someday when you die? Think about this carefully and consider the following questions. Check yourself to see if you are good and worthy of a gift like Heaven.
How many lies have you told in your lifetime? Even fibs, half-truths, and white lies are still considered a lie. If you have, that would make you a liar. Have you ever stolen anything? It doesn’t matter how big or small it is; if it was not yours, that would make you a thief. God says that those who break His rules are sinners and lawbreakers.
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Have you taken God’s name in vain? Such as saying “Oh My God” or “Jesus Christ”? By doing this, you have used God’s name as a curse word or even used it flippantly with no regard to His name. Consider if someone were to use your mother’s name as a curse word; you would be very offended. God says, “I will not hold anyone guiltless who takes My name in vain.”
Have you ever looked at someone with lustful intent to lust with sexual desire for them? God says that if you do, you have committed adultery with them already in your heart, not to mention if you commit the sin of outright adultery.
Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28
If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer at heart. The Bible warns that God will one day punish all who break His Law, The Ten Commandments. We have only gone over four of them. If you are just like everyone else on this planet, it is not looking good for you because we are all sinners. We have all sinned and fallen short of the standards of God.
He is a righteous and pure God, holy and just. He can not allow any wickedness or sin, those who are not good, into Heaven. He will judge you after you die and find you guilty. Then, He will be forced to send you to a terrible place called Hell, which is His prison for those who break His commandments and refuse to turn in repentance and faith in His Son.
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
He does not want you to go there but must punish sin wherever it is found.
God says to them, “As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die,” Ezekiel 33:11
You can not pay for your own sins. Doing good deeds to try to outweigh what you have done wrong will have no effect. Just as a judge does not care what good you have done in the past or the present when he is judging you for the crimes you have committed. It worsens for you if you try to use your good deeds, influence, or money to bribe the judge. No good judge looks kindly at a bribe but will add additional charges to a criminal. But if he does, he is guilty of crimes and could be sent to prison himself.
“For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23. It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, Hebrews 9:27
What are you to do? Your only hope of being sent to Hell is that someone else pays your fine. Because the cost of your redemption is far too high, someone else must save you from this horrible fate. But who can anyone from spending eternity in Hell? Who can pay for your sins?
I want to stop here and tell you there is hope for the salvation of your soul. It is one hundred percent guaranteed that you will die someday, and you will have to stand before God on Judgement Day. But did you know that God did a wonderful thing for you? Because of His great love for you, God is not willing for anyone to perish, even though you are a sinner. His mercy and grace are out of this world. But God did make a way for your salvation through His Son Jesus Christ.
But God, being rich in mercy because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace, you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5
Jesus Christ paid your fine when He died on the cross. He shed His blood for the payment of your sins and mine. He took the entire wrath of God on your account, paying the debt you deserve for your sins. Did you know this means that God can legally dismiss your case? But you have to agree to His terms of redemption. You have to turn from sin and follow Him.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” John 3:16-18
Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and then, by the power of God, rose again on the third day. He defeated sin and death. In this way, because Jesus was a perfect sacrifice for your sins, He paid the penalty for your sins. He can offer you forgiveness if you would turn to Him. He waits for you to turn, repent, and do as He commands.
I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices; Isaiah 65:2
Today, you have a choice: life or death, Heaven or Hell. But you need to confess your sins to God. Repent, which means to turn away from your life of sin. Believe in Him, putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and following Him in all your ways. If you do this from your heart, repent, and believe that Jesus Christ is God and your Savior, God promises to forgive you of all your sins. Then, He will grant you eternal life as a free gift.
No longer will you be condemned to Hell and punishment. Heaven will be your reward for your faithfulness to Jesus, where there is no crying, tears, sorrow, pain, or even the memory of such things again. God will save you if you seek the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
He says, “I will hear you, and you will find Me.”
If you have repented and turned to Jesus Christ as your Savior today, pick up a Bible, read it daily, and obey what God says to you through His Word. Seek the Holy Spirit to fill you; He will guide you to do good instead of evil for the rest of your life. He will show you where to go and what to do so that you can do what honors the Lord.
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. John 6:63
I suggest starting with the Book of John and then the first three books in the New Testament. Please consider your eternity with the utmost urgency and turn to God for the forgiveness of your sins today.
If you indeed seek Him, He will save you. He will give you a new heart and mind to desire what is good. Do not wait until tomorrow. You don’t know the day or hour that you will die because tomorrow may be too late.
Follow and obey Jesus Christ in everything He commands. Work to build the Kingdom of God, and great will be your reward in Heaven. Yes, He also promises a great reward to those who follow, obey, and serve Him. This decision is the most crucial choice you will ever make. Do not look back and regret your decision to ignore the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ because nothing is more important than your eternal soul.
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” Matthew 16:26
