The Lord God is a loving, kind, and merciful God. He is slow to anger and forgiving to those who call upon His name. He will protect His servants under His wing. All this to those who are humble. But to the wicked, His righteous indignation and holy fire will burn them up. Their end is coming, and the Lord will destroy them with one word. Then, they will go to eternal judgment, where they will pay for their many crimes. He warns all to turn to Him and repent so that He may forgive them due to His mercy.
But those who continue to be scornful, wretched, blasphemous, unholy, and rebellious will not go unpunished. Therefore, do not worry that the wicked may seem to escape for now; surely they will not. Their time will come and will fall before His presence and give account for every sin and act of wrongdoing.
“I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, Matthew” 12:36
God has recorded every deed you have ever done in His book. There will be a revealing of every thought and motivation of the heart for everyone to see. A price and penalty will be levied upon every person for their sins. Nothing can be hidden, and there will not be any arguing or justifying before the Lord on that day.
“For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14
On that day, there will only be one thing that can save you. On that day, you will tremble with great terror and fear if you do not trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation. God will make a complete end to the wicked. But if you repent now, there is forgiveness; if you turn from sin to righteousness, there is redemption and freedom from sin and death.
So do not worry if the wicked seem to receive no punishment; they will. Instead, be concerned about your own salvation and living for Jesus Christ, receiving His forgiveness and Spirit so that you may live with Him forever in Heaven.
What do you plot against the LORD? He will make a complete end; trouble will not rise up a second time. For they are like entangled thorns, like drunkards as they drink; they are consumed like stubble fully dried. Nahum 1:9-10
Brothers and Sisters know this: the God we serve is merciful and gracious and righteous and righteous and righteous. He gives grace to the humble. But against those who do evil, He is powerful, vengeful, and wrathful. Nevertheless, He will forgive those who fall before Him now and repent to follow and obey Him. He will keep them safe. To those who mourn with genuine sorrow for their sins, He will forgive and forget. I pray you will be one of the righteous who turns to the Lord.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5
But He will avenge those who harm His little ones, those who speak and do evil against them. God will repay the wicked for all they do that is in rebellion with His Law. Therefore, do not feel jealous or envious of those who seem to get away with every crime, slander, and an abundance of wickedness now. Their day is coming, and they will not escape the great wrath to come. But seek to please Him in all you do.
The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on His adversaries and keeps wrath for His enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; He dries up all the rivers; Bashan and Carmel wither; the bloom of Lebanon withers.
The mountains quake before Him; the hills melt; the earth heaves before Him, the world and all who dwell in it. Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the heat of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken into pieces by Him. The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him. But with an overflowing flood, He will make a complete end of the adversaries and will pursue His enemies into darkness. Nahum 1:2-8
