The Master Player

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, Rejoice!” For the Lord God is seated upon His throne. He is above all things and overlooks every aspect of life. He has everything already worked out. Everything is going to come to pass as He has planned. However, it may not look that way to your eyes.

For the Lord, it is already completed. It is all coming together just the way He has planned. He is a genius, a Master chess player. He sees the last winning move before the first is even played. As it is, the devil never had a chance.

Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done,

saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it. Isaiah 46:8-11

Every attack of the devil is known to God. Every scheme of man will be foiled according to His will. His mighty hand will thwart every lie, plan, strategy, maneuver, and conspiracy. He is a million steps ahead of every wicked device. He knows every step and every move the devil will ever make. Nothing is hidden, declares the Lord, and no one can pull the wool over His eyes. He can never be surprised.

O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know, when I sit down and when I rise up, you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path, and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Psalm 139:1-6

Though the flaming arrows soar in, you can be confident in the Lord’s protection. Though the fight gets fierce, the storm and winds rage, and the battle seems unending. The Lord has already won the war. Do not waver in your faith, but trust in Him because He is worthy, and He will see that you will be victorious in Jesus Christ.

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God because they fear before Him. But it will not be well with the wicked; neither will he prolong his days like a shadow because he does not fear before God. Ecclesiastes 8:12-13

The Lord knows the future. He knows every move that will be played and turn the tide against the wicked. He will flank them from every side, and they will not escape. Their fate has already been sealed; they will fall and wake up in judgment, and the righteous will be lifted high. Many believe this life is all there is, and they have to claw and scratch to get all they can. But that could not be further from the truth. This life is only a dress rehearsal in preparation for the performance of a lifetime for Jesus Christ in eternity.

Mark the blameless and behold the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace. But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the future of the wicked shall be cut off. Psalm 37:37-38 He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the LORD our God will wipe them out. Psalm 94:23

Rejoice in your God, who is awesome and mighty. He is the ruler and leader of all nations, peoples, and tongues. He is monumental and supreme. Nothing can escape His sight or understanding. Though the lawless hide in deep darkness, they sneak and slink among dank dungeons and conceal their plans and murders from all mankind. They will receive what they have earned.

Truly, you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin. How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors! Psalm 73:18-19

Not one thing can be hidden from the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. Rejoice and be very glad for the Lord God reigns! He is intimately involved in every second of your life and will not leave or forsake you. He will work everything out according to His pre-orchestrated plan. There will come a day when Jesus will wipe the wicked from the playing board in one fell swoop.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:4-9
