Given Seed To Sow

If you are a servant of the Lord, God has approved and planned out your path. He has established and preordained your way, that you may follow Him to do His will. To every man, woman, and child God has called, He has given a specific job that they may work for Him according to His will, may it be encouragement, teaching, helping, or the many other tasks He has His servants accomplish for the Kingdom of Heaven. But to every one of us, He has called us to sow the seeds of salvation in the souls of men through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

For Jesus’ last words to His disciples were, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

As a farmer sows different kinds of seed on good soil in different ways, God expects you to sow in the way He has designed for you to work the fields of men for the Kingdom of God. In the same way, the farmer nurtures the ground with fertilizer, weeds the ground, waits for the rains to water and germinate the seed, and waits for the crop to grow to maturity. God will nurture you to maturity as you seek His face, read His Word, meditate on His instruction, and grow in understanding of who God has created you to be.

God gave each of us different gifts so we may be able to sow the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ in differing ways to the unbeliever. Again, I will use the farmer as an example; he does not cultivate corn like he does tomatoes and does not care for potatoes like he does for wheat. There are different methods to bring each crop to harvest, and there are different ways that God brings the lost soul to Salvation in Jesus Christ.

Some preach with their mouths, teach, and instruct others in God’s Word. Some work with their hands to help those in need, showing them the love of God through action. Some use the written word to encourage, guide, and help those needing instruction. Some comfort and console others in their time of need. Others heal the brokenhearted or cry with the hurting, and others encourage and build up the Church through their faithful and righteous example of faith and trust in God. Therefore, many different parts of the body of Christ work together to achieve the same goal: to bring unbelievers to Christ and build up the family of God.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another, the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,

to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. 1 Corinthians 12:5-11

No matter your skills or gifts, if you sow the Word of God in the way you were created for His will, you will reap a righteous harvest. The good seed you have sown in others by faith will take root, sprout, and produce a harvest for God and eternal life.

God has already planned out your life. Though the road is rough, and there may come many obstacles, God will fulfill His will in your life and work if you keep your eyes on Him. So, increase your faith in His power and plan. Move forward in the joy of the Lord, praising His name, and be grateful for everything He has done and will do. You can have confidence that His plan will never fail, and His Spirit will be with you every step of the way, nurturing you to do His will to the best of your ability.

Then sow the Seeds of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone God sends your way. Nothing is more sure, transforming, or revolutionary than the seed of His Word that can change hearts and minds from lost souls to true and faithful servants of the Lord. One day, you will be rewarded for all your hard work for the Kingdom of God by sowing the seeds of salvation to those in need.

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11
