Servants of the Lord, you have been given a great responsibility. The Lord has chosen specific assignments precisely just for you. He has also given each of you different and select gifts, talents, and abilities to accomplish His work. Some have been given much and some little, depending on His will and the assignment He has given.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
For those who have been given much, much is required; for those who are given less, less is required. But to every single one, God has issued a call for faithfulness, obedience, and readiness to use their gifts for the glory of God. These are required of all of God’s servants regardless of the amount of gifts or status of the call. You are responsible to do the work He has given you.
For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another, the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kind of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:8-11
Oh dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord, He has given you tremendous opportunities to work for the Kingdom of God to save men’s lost and broken souls. To build up treasures in heaven. To help gather them before the final days of judgment and to appear justified before the glorious Lord God Almighty. You have the privilege to offer them the chance to repent and come to the feet of Jesus so that they may be saved and healed.
Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes and see that the fields are white for harvest. Already, the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here, the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.” John 4:35-38
Jesus is merciful, gracious, tender, loving, and compassionate. He will never leave you alone to do this work on your own power and strength. As a matter of fact, He does not want you to strive with your strength. On the contrary, He gives the strength of the Holy Spirit so that you will be victorious in battle and in the tasks He has given and that you can have confidence and knowledge in what you should do.
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
Offer yourself up and give up what you may gain here for His planned glory. God gave you His precious gift of salvation; why would you not do the same for the ones the Lord has sent you to? The ones He calls you to show mercy, grace, and love. Dress for action, turn your face to the Lord, and seek His will only. Ignore those who seek to knock you down or distract you from your course.
The Lord, God Almighty, is with you and will clear the path before you. He will hack away the branches, vines, and tangle that the evil one sent to stop you. He is the one who prunes what is worthless and grows what is worthy. Stand firm in the Lord. He will finish what He has started when you use your gifts for what He has planned for you to do.
Stay dressed for action, keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, He will dress Himself for service and have them recline at table, and He will come and serve them.
Blessed is that servant whom His master will find so doing when He comes. Truly, I say to you, He will set him over all His possessions. And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to His will will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him, much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. Luke 12:35-37, 43-44, 47-48
