Deep Love Of The Father

“How deep the Father’s love for us, how vast beyond all measure. That He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure, how great the pain of searing loss, The Father turns His face away. As wounds which mar the Chosen One, bring many sons to glory.” Excerpt from Hymn – How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

Just as the father in the parable of the prodigal son ran to embrace his son when he returned home and lavished upon him great gifts, love, and a celebration that he had returned, so also, your Heavenly Father waits for you. He will run to you, embrace you, and celebrate when you humble yourself and return to Him in all your ways.

When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.  Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.  For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. Luke 15:17-24

His love is so great that God will not delay, He will not refuse, He will not even walk to your rescue to wrap you in His loving embrace, but He will run! He will rejoice with great joy that His dearly beloved child has come home.

Know this; believe this because it is true. God’s love for you is so intense, vast, and great. No one can fathom how great His love is for you, so much so that Jesus sacrificed Himself for you. He loves you so much. Jesus took your punishment and endured the entire wrath of God on your account.

For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory, He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

That you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19

No greater love is there than this that a man lays down their life for a friend. So then Jesus laid down His life for you. So now He wants you to do the same for others and show the same love He has achieved for you.

Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” John 15:12-14

There is no end to His great love for you. There is no distance too far, no height too high, no depth too deep that He would ever forsake His beloved children. Nothing will separate you from His love. Nothing will stop what He has planned for you, those who follow and obey His commands.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Imagine your natural born child being so lost to drugs, alcohol, and hurting themselves.

Watching others hurt them left and right because they were so insecure and unsure of themselves that the world took advantage of them.

Imagine them attempting to take their own life.

Then, imagine them waking up and running back into your arms. Looking you straight on the eye and saying, Father, I am ready to listen.

Crying in your arms because they are so sorry for what they did to you.

That is is how Jesus feels when his children return home. Back to his loving arms and Spirit.

    Hallelujah.

Now imagine the gifts that you can now give to them. Why?

Because they can be trusted not to give it away for a bowl of soup.
