Prone To Wander

Are you walking with God today, or are you prone to wander away from Him, following your own path? It is a meandering path that leads to many things you know are wrong. God has given you a conscience to see the difference between right and wrong. You know the right way to go, but you have chosen your own way and have silenced your conscience. Listen to what I have to say and understand the path you have been walking. It is a way that leads to very much pain, sorrow, inner conflict, and punishment.

You may not know it or can admit it, but you are lost when you do not follow God’s commands. Think of it like walking in a vast forest, walking in large circles but not even realizing your predicament, finding that you are in a dark, cold valley that leads to nowhere good, with fears all around.

Stop right where you are and evaluate your situation. God approves of those who follow His straight path. What is that path? You might say. It is called the path of righteousness. Are you living a life of righteousness? Are you a good person, or are you living with hate, malice, selfishness, and lust in your heart? Take a few minutes, continue reading, and test yourself according to God’s commands.

How many of His commandments have you broken? You shall not lie. You shall not steal. You shall not covet. Honor your father and mother. You shall not blaspheme the Lord’s name. Do not worship anything other than God. You shall not commit murder. Jesus said that hatred is equal to murder. You shall not commit adultery. Jesus also said that looking with lust is adultery of the heart.

To break His Law is a sin and a crime against the Lord of creation. Sin always starts in the heart. Then is justified in the mind, ignoring the conscience; you move from thought to action and sin. So, be honest, since you are like the rest of us, sinful, you have broken God’s Laws, and you are not good or righteous. You have turned to go your way and have become a criminal in God’s eyes.

It is a crooked path that leads to judgment. All have sinned and fallen short. God will judge you by every word, action, thought, and motivation of your heart. After you die, you will stand in judgment before Him. A day will come when it will be too late to turn from your wandering path to walk on His. There will come a day when you will receive the sentence of Hell and torment. You will pay for your rebellion to His Law for all eternity.

Please continue to listen. I do not want this to happen to you. So shake yourself from your slumber and wrong living today. Think of how you have broken God’s Law and built up His wrath against you. But do not despair. There is hope for your salvation. God’s love is eternal and merciful and gracious to the humble and repentant soul.

You have heard of His love for you and that He desires that you follow Him and His ways. But you just can’t seem to find Him interesting, or the pleasures of this world tend to draw you away to do your own thing. So open your ears to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and turn to Him. Then, call out to the Lord for help.

Yes, turn to Jesus. Why Jesus? What makes Him so special? Jesus is the Son of God. He was sent to this earth to live as a man, yet He remained God. He came to live and experience every aspect of being human rather than suffer punishment, God’s wrath, and death at the hands of those who should have known better. You broke God’s Law, and Jesus paid the penalty you deserve, the punishment you earned for your many sins and crimes against God. Jesus offers you the forgiveness of those sins.

Now, Jesus did not stay dead after being crucified on the cross. But He rose from the grave on the third day and defeated sin and death because He was God. Nothing has power over Him. He offers you redemption or payment for your sins. He offers you eternal life as a reward for turning away from your wandering and sinful path. So you need to turn to Him in repentance for the forgiveness of your sins in humility.

He calls out to anyone who will listen, follow, and obey Him. He is calling you. Will you listen, repent, and follow Him? Will you stop in your tracks, turn from your desire, and run to Jesus for salvation, eternal life, and the path of righteousness? It is said that “even if you wander miles from home, it only takes one step to turn to walk in the right direction.”

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Jesus is waiting for you to do what is right instead of wrong, leading to the path of destruction. He wants to show you love, build you up, heal you, and change your heart, soul, and mind. He is looking for those who will turn away from being proud and arrogant.

He is looking for those who are lowly in spirit and who are willing to walk according to His ways. His reward will bless you with an overabundance of peace, love, joy, and knowing that He is with you always, even to eternal life in Him.

Follow Him through repentance from your sinful ways. Then, on your judgment day, Jesus will stand with you before God and declare to Him. “I died and paid the penalty for this precious child of mine. He has been forgiven and cleansed by the purity of my blood on the cross. Grant them eternal life and reward with me in Heaven.” And the Father will agree and has already made it so. He will bestow upon you such rewards and joy you can’t even imagine for all eternity.

And it shall be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.” For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made.

Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain, I was angry; I struck him; I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart. I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, creating the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to the far and to the near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal him. But the wicked are like the tossing sea, for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up mire and dirt. There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” Isaiah 57:17-21
