Someone asked, “Can someone who has sold their soul to the Devil ever be saved?” I believe the phrase “sold their soul to the devil” is misinterpreted as if you can sell something that you do not own, such as your soul, to Satan for a price. Consider that every soul belongs to God the Father.
God said in Job 41:11, “Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole Heaven is mine.”
For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. Psalm 50:10-12
God created each of us and everything in the universe for His glory, and He will retain His ownership over every soul for eternity. He will judge everyone according to His righteousness and Holy Law. Mankind’s only hope is if they believe in His Son, Jesus Christ, by faith for the forgiveness of their sins. He will save their souls from Hell and eternal torment.
The Lord declares in Ezekiel 18:4, “Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.”
We can see by what God has said that one cannot sell their soul to the Devil since they do not own their soul. But because of sin, wickedness, and the deception of the Devil, every one of us is already under the curse of sin that condemns us to an eternity of punishment. That is unless you turn to the Savior to be saved.
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and are justified by His grace as a gift through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by His blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness because, in His divine forbearance, He had passed over former sins. Romans 3:23-25
“Then He(God) will say to those on His left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” Matthew 25:41
What really happens is that people have given themselves over to the wicked ways of Satan. Because of their great rebellion against God’s Law, and their insistence upon performing and continuing in their wicked ways, God has turned away and given them over to be completely cut off from any hope of salvation through Jesus.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, and malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, and ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. Romans 1:28-32
It seems that those who say they have sold their souls to the Devil have no more hope. But for everyone else, hope remains while air is still in your lungs and the beat of your heart can still be heard. There is hope for you and every sinner willing to humble themselves, turn from their sinful ways, and repent. There is hope for saving your soul from Hell if you believe in Jesus Christ and follow and obey Him by faith to the end.
Listen to what the Apostle Peter said to many who had crucified Jesus in Acts 3:17:21, “And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as also did your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He thus fulfilled.
Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom Heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets long ago.”
Do not turn away from God to the wicked ways of the Devil, but repent of your sins, humble your heart, and turn to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Receive His Holy Spirit so that He may transform you from the inside out, wiping your slate clean, and then you will never be given over the ways of the Devil again. God promises to change your eternal destination from Hell and punishment to Heaven and reward you for your faithful service to Him.
What will you do? Reach for the things of this world that will never give you peace, or reach for the Savior Jesus Christ, who will save your soul and provide you with love, joy, hope, peace, and so much more.
