No matter how hard someone tries with worldly means to come out on top and gain whatever they are after in this world, it will never last. Whether they went as far as to cheat, lie, steal, murder, manipulate systems, and do everything in their power to claw their way up into their high towers of political power, authority, or influence. They will never achieve their ultimate goal and keep it because, at the end of the day, it was never theirs to keep. All things belong to the Lord, and He is the one in control. He calls the shots and establishes kingdoms and topples them. In fact, the Lord says the righteous will inherit everything of importance; He will have His way and set His men and women at the top. For those who refuse to do what is good and follow the Lord Jesus Christ, their end will not be good.
Psalm 1:5-6 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Psalms 97:1-5 The Lord reigns, let the Earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! 2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. 3 Fire goes before Him and burns up His adversaries all around. 4 His lightnings light up the world; the Earth sees and trembles. 5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the Earth.
The reality of the world we live in is that we do see the wicked prosper over the weak and poor. Through their deceptive business practices and their political and governmental authority, they create systems that work for their benefit to steal from those with no power, using everything for their benefit while promising to help the poor and needy. But be assured, their positions are only temporary because the Lord God sees it all. He will not let them get away with it but will bring retribution upon them in His time.
Psalm 37:12-13 The wicked plots against the righteous and gnashes his teeth at him, 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for He sees that his day is coming.
All while the poor and the righteous suffer and struggle to do what is right before the Lord and survive until their redemption. Yet for some, the Lord offers opportunities to rise above and fight against the world’s systems, overcoming them for God’s plan and purposes, to save the hurting, the weak, and the humble of heart and spirit.
The Lord gives free will to all mankind and allows these unjust things to happen worldwide. God allows man to choose good or evil, right or wrong, putting the destination of their souls into their own hands. So do not misunderstand if you are suffering, do not become hopeless, but look to the Lord Jesus for your salvation and comfort in times of trials. There will come a day when God’s patience with the wicked, allowing them time to repent, comes to an end, and then He will act and free those enslaved. He will bring relief to the humble and punishment to the disobedient.
Psalm 94:22-23 But the Lord has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge. 23 He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.
Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the Earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might. He increases strength. 30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Again, even though we see the wicked prospering and rising higher and higher, remember the old saying is true: “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.” And that will be precisely what happens to them; they will fall when the Lord declares that their time is up. Be assured that the crash of some will be heard worldwide. So do not run after what they are trying to achieve, or you may end up with what you have earned.
Psalm 37:20 But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures; they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.
Proverbs 24:1-2 Be not envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them, 2 for their hearts devise violence, and their lips talk of trouble.
Psalm 37:23-24 The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in His way; 24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.
Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ and in the future He has for us in eternity. Every possession, money, gold, or precious items that we may have in this life, may it be houses, properties, accounts, jobs, titles, positions, or places of earthly authority, will be gone someday and counted as nothing unless what you used them for was for the benefit of others and for the will of the Lord.
On the day you die, not only will you have lost all you have earned, in a monetary sense, but everything will go to someone else. It will be as if you never had anything. There will also come a day when you stand before the Lord. He will judge you by what you did on this Earth, and the only treasures you will receive will be what you did for Him, and if you believed in the Savior God sent to redeem you from your sins.
You may be asking yourself, “Who is this Savior?” He is Jesus Christ, the Lord, the Son of God, and He is the only one who can forgive your sins and save your soul. He is the one who can cover you with His righteousness, allowing you to build up true treasure in Heaven. If you believe in Him by faith, follow and obey His commands, then what you do for Him and others will build up treasures in Heaven that no one can take away.
The Lord says in Isaiah 55:2-3, “Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.”
Matthew 6:19-24 Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on Earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
How do you lay up treasure in Heaven? First, you must come to the understanding that you are a sinful being. And every one of us has broken God’s commandments. I am referring, in general, to His Ten Commandments. Do not lie, do not steal, do not kill or hate, do not lust or commit adultery, do not covet, obey and honor your parents, do not worship false gods, do not blaspheme God’s name, Honor His Sabbath day, and love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Exodus 20
God says that there is punishment to come for all lawbreakers. Every criminal will receive their just sentence. God oversees the whole world and every single person, second by second, recording down every thought, word, and deed, good and bad. And since you have a conscience, knowing right from wrong, you will have no excuse to save you, since you are the one who chooses to follow righteousness or wickedness. You are the one who decides to turn towards God and obey Him or turn away in disobedience, even justifying your sins.
But the good news is that God didn’t leave us without hope. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to take the punishment for the sins of the world. Your sins were taken by Him when He suffered and died on the cross. He took your punishment you deserved, then He was buried and rose again. He defeated sin and death that you may be redeemed. That is, if you believe in Him by faith.
Don’t be like the unwise, rich, and powerful who trust in what they have here on Earth instead of trusting in the One who saves. But choose life, goodness, and righteousness. Believe in Jesus, walk by faith, and help those who are poor and needy, and those who have not yet turned to the Lord.
The Lord said in Isaiah 65:1-3, “I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me. I said, “Here I am, here I am,” to a nation that was not called by my name. 2 I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices; 3 a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens and making offerings on bricks;”
Psalm 82:1-4 “God has taken His place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods He holds judgment: 2 “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah 3 Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. 4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Remember, God gives every person a place on Earth and an opportunity to do good. To spend what they have, may it be financially, physically, or spiritually, to help those in need, to do His will instead of spending what they have on themselves. To every person, God gives talents, abilities, and opportunities to build up treasure in Heaven and to follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, rather than continuing in sin.
The real question is, when will you turn from sin, repent, devote yourself to righteousness, and follow Jesus with all your heart? Please make this most essential decision: believe in the Lord Jesus Christ today, and let Him change you from the inside out and do His will for the rest of your days.
I am telling you, don’t worry about how the wicked prosper, or desire their place. For their time is coming. There is no stopping what God has in store for them, for those who refuse to turn to Jesus in faith and righteousness. But for you, no matter what troubles you face, you will never regret your decision to follow Jesus. When you arrive in Heaven at the end of your life, you will receive the rewards you have earned here on Earth for doing God’s will.
Psalm 37:1-6 Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! 2 For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
