Whether you know it or not, God has appointed you to perform a task that He has designed just for you. To do His will and to carry out His purposes. His plan that He crafted from before the foundation of the world.
You may long to be with the Lord in perfection, to be in glory with Him, and perhaps to remain here and work toward the kingdom of God. All at the same time.
It is a hard and painful thing to consider. Desiring to be free from this sinful flesh and painful existence. To be in the presence of your Savior. To be a part of the comforts of an eternity full of joy, happiness, without pain, suffering, temptation, and sorrow.
Yet knowing many will suffer in hell if you do not stay and work for the saving of their souls. To build up heavenly treasure by doing the work of the Lord.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
How you must long for that day. That you will be in perfection before your King. Before the Lord Jesus Christ in bliss and joy forevermore.
But, I know that the Lord is not done with you yet. He has appointed a day and set a time that you will depart and be with Him. But it is not this day. He has much work for you to do.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He may give it to you. John 15:16
He has appointed to you a job to be done, a task at hand, and a charge to bring the truth to the nations. The truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To build up His Kingdom, to seek and save the lost, and much more to come that you know nothing about.
He has declared to you this charge, arranged everything beforehand, prepared and molded you for the task at hand, and established a time for its beginning and for its completion.
Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves,
When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Matthew 10:16,19-20
It is good to think of heaven, His marvelous coming, and the end of the age. To look into His mysteries and be fascinated by what is to come. But to dwell on it too much, live in it when it has not come yet, and neglect what you should be doing now is not right.
Seek His face, His will, and direction that you may perform the task at hand. What He wants you to do right now. Right where you are standing.
Prepare yourself also for the work yet to come. You must obey by doing the work, not just thinking about it. He has ordained you by the Spirit of the Lord and not by men, to accomplish everything according to His agenda and timing.
Do not waste the time He has given you, what is now. That you may be thoroughly equipped to perform those things God has prepared for you to do and to accomplish those things He has for you now.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
Fix your gaze upon Jesus, put your hand to the plow, and do not look back. If men are displeased with your fervent work and sacrifice for the Lord, I guarantee you that you are on the right path.
Work for the furtherance of His Kingdom. Work to build up treasures in Heaven where moth does not eat and rust does not destroy. Then encourage one another to do the same.
“Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.” Luke 12:33
Determine within your own heart and soul to press onto the goal that the Lord has laid before you. The task at hand. Work for the Kingdom of Heaven and for your King who is Christ Jesus the Lord.
Place one foot in front of the other, even if that is the only thing you can see, the next step. The Lord will truly guide the steps of the righteous, those who give everything into His capable hands. He will direct you on the path He has already prepared.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.
I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.
Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again. Philippians 1:21-26
