Some people will declare that God is real when He answers their prayer in the way they want. But what if you lose your job, the deal falls through, or you run out of gas, money, energy, grace, or love? What if you get injured and can’t work, or your family member doesn’t recover from the illness you have been praying about? Then, is He real, loving, caring, and can He really answer your prayers? Does God even want to listen to your prayers? Can He save?
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. Psalm 139:4
I assure you God hears your prayers. He is still God, in control over all things, loving, kind, compassionate, merciful, a healer, and a restorer to life from death. He is intimately attuned to the cries of His children and even those who still walk in the enemy’s darkness, waiting for them to turn to Him.
The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, and His ears toward their cry. The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:15-18
But God has much bigger plans than what you see or desire. His plans are rooted in the changing of hearts and souls. And as a side note, the innumerable sins of mankind and even your sins have thrown a wrench in the gears, so to speak, of how things could have gone. Every sin brings consequences and punishment to those who have committed crimes against God’s Law. Every lie, theft, lust, covetous thought, disobedient action, or evil behavior will bring repercussions that the offender must endure.
Also, the plan and purpose of God transcend what you believe should happen in a given situation. Usually, you ask for what is best according to your desire for peace, comfort, or prosperity. You may believe that the best thing is for you to succeed in everything you put your attention to and enjoy life to what you feel would be to the fullest. But God has better plans for your life, so He brings trials and persecutions to test you to cause your heart to turn to Him for help. To humble you to cause you to repent of your sins.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
Sometimes, God allows a loved one to die to bring you or others to Him through the pain in their hearts they have been denying all this time. He does things you may need help understanding to get you to your knees. Otherwise, you would have never humbled yourself and turned to God. Think about it. Why would you reach out to Him if you always had everything you needed or wanted?
As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together, they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” Romans 3:10-12
God is real and works in every area of life in ways you could not imagine. He is keeping a close eye on everyone. But if you refuse to listen, follow, and obey, He will often allow the consequences to roll down on you as a good father would for his children. God does this so you may learn the lessons necessary to shape you into an upright and respectful adult as you grow up. He desires everyone to turn to Him to be like Him, righteous, holy, good, patient, loving, and kind to others.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 1 Timothy 2:1-6
So do not doubt His existence if things don’t “go your way.” Believe in Jesus Christ and turn your attention to what God is trying to teach you. God is the best Father and always wants the best for His beloved children. He wants them to turn to His Son. Even if it takes severe discipline and chastisement to bring you to the point of humility and repentance to follow and obey Jesus Christ in everything you think, say, and do. He will allow these things to happen for your good.
And it shall be said, “Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.” For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with Him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would grow faint before me, and the breath of life that I made. Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain, I was angry; I struck him; I hid my face and was angry, but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart. I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners, creating the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to the far and to the near,” says the LORD, “and I will heal him. But the wicked are like the tossing sea, for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up mire and dirt. There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.” Isaiah 57:14-21

The title of this post makes me want to say, am I real? I’m a faker and a liar without Yeshua my Creator and Loving Father living within me.
Will you pray for our family? My husband’s health is uncertain. Some days he seems to be on death’s door and other days it seems he will live for another ten years. I personally would like to see him go, if I’m honest, as our 28 year marriage has been 98% hell on earth for me. But, I don’t think he is ready spiritually to meet his maker. As a professed Christian, he is harboring much bitterness, pain, grudges and offenses, along with chronic physical pain that hardly ever reaches below 5 on a scale of 1-10. I personally am trying to endure and see things from Christ’s perspective, but most days I’m just done. I honor our marriage license and vows physically, but in all other areas, I’m pretty much out. Thanks, Susan.

I am so sorry to hear that. Yes, I will pray for you and your family.
We all need Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit to cleanse us of all our sins and bitterness. I pray for the gift of true repentance for your entire family, forgiveness, and that the love of God will fill your hearts, in Jesus’ name. That He may bring the joy and peace of God into your household.
